Send us a textMeta, the company still best known to many as the Facebook, Instagram and WhatsApp parent company, has widened access to its Llama models, opening the door to more governments across the world.Meta’s Llama models (Llama 2 and newer) are generally accessible under an open-source-like license not strictly limited by government lists, but Meta has been strengthening partnerships with governments and institutions focused on strategic and responsible AI rollout. Who gets access?Leading democratic and allied countries (US, UK, Canada, Australia, New Zealand) have been prominent in collaborations around AI safety, governance, and technology sharing through Llama and similar models.European partners (France, Germany, Italy), Japan, and South Korea have been highlighted in recent Meta announcements and press coverage as part of expanded outreach or AI model availability, often in the context of responsible innovation and digital sovereignty.NATO and the European Union as multilateral institutions are increasingly involved in AI strategy, and Meta has engaged with them via policy and research partnerships, but granting "access" usually refers to sharing research, toolkit deployments, and policy dialogue rather than uniquely privileged access to the Llama models.Need More Support?
