Navigating a Business Marriage- Tips From Co-Business Owners

Whether you’re already in the midst of it or thinking about getting started, navigating a “business marriage” can be one of the most rewarding experiences when running a business. But that doesn’t mean it doesn’t come with its challenges. Business partnerships are beautiful things (hence the “business marriage” term I’ve coined), and just like regular marriages, it can be difficult finding that perfect person. That’s why it’s so wonderful and encouraging to hear about success stories like that of Principle Occupational Therapist Melissa Bryan and Principal Clinical Psychologist Annabelle Griffin from Crisalida -  a therapy centre in the Northern parts of Melbourne. From reminiscing on their partnership to their learnings during COVID, they open up on this week’s newest PPMP episode. While this is a great episode for anyone who co-owns a business or is thinking about it, there are also plenty of insights on leadership, staff support, and recruitment - important insights for all business owners. Melissa and Annabelle also share their wonderful words of wisdom for other business owners (not just those in business partnerships). Quite simply put, their best advice is that it’s worth it. As Annabelle shares,  “It’s possibly more work than you think it’s going to be, but that doesn’t mean it’s not worth it.” You’ll hear their full tips in the episode, but one of the biggest ones that stood out was about knowing that your partner is fully committed. No one likes walking on eggshells with others, and it’s no different when it comes to business partnerships. Can you be open and honest with your business partner and vice-versa?
