Chapter 1: What is the main topic discussed in this episode?
So let's go ahead and get into it.
Chapter 2: What is the context of the Black Fatigue discussion in Oak Bluffs?
So this is Oak Bluffs. Oak Bluffs, Massachusetts, Martha's Vineyard. Now, there is no fatigue here, all right? There's no black fatigue here. There's only beauty. There's only families. There's only professionals. There are only doctors. There are only lawyers. There are only professors. There are only accountants. There are only- Apparently this is a controversial thing to say.
He's getting a ton of hate for this video. I think a lot of black people even have black fatigue. Let's talk about it. Guys, before we get into today's video, please like and subscribe. Today we're going to be talking about a video that went viral on TikTok. It has 150,000 likes on it.
And it's a black man who's in Oak Bluffs, which is a town in Martha's Vineyard, Massachusetts, that is known for being, I guess, a hotspot for black wealth and for a very long time, I believe dating back to the 18th century. Now he's talking about Oak Bluffs. as a wealthy black man and saying, you know what? If you want to come to Oak Bluffs as a black person, you have to know how to act.
We do not need to feel black fatigue here.
Chapter 3: Why is the concept of Black Fatigue controversial?
There is no room for people who don't know how to behave. Now, apparently this is something you cannot say because he's getting a ton of hate and mostly from black people, but let's hear him. All right, so let's go ahead and get into it. So this is Oak Bluffs, Oak Bluffs, Massachusetts, Martha's Vineyard. Now, there is no fatigue here, all right? There's no black fatigue here.
There's only beauty. There's only families. There's only professionals. There are only doctors. There are only lawyers. There are only professors. There are only accountants.
Chapter 4: What does the viral TikTok video reveal about Oak Bluffs?
There are only finance people. That's what you find down here, families enjoying themselves. Listen, Oak Bluffs has been a haven of black wealth in this country for 100 years. And I love it so very much. My wife is here. We love it.
In fact, I'll be going back home today, but then we'll be back, God willing, in a week to actually enjoy ourselves because we will be spending a week here through 4th of July. It's going to be beautiful. But you know what? If you know how to act, come on down to Oak Bluffs. We'd love to have, at least I would, love to have people coming down, seeing this. This is beautiful. You know what?
A lot of times in the media, we get inundated with negativity regarding black people. Well, come on down to Oak Bluffs and see what's going on down here. But remember, you got to come down here. You got to know how to act. But I love it. Black wealth, elite black wealth. But you know what? What we don't do is look down on everybody else.
What we do is help everybody else because we want more to come down here. Anyways, continue to follow me.
Chapter 5: How does the speaker define acceptable behavior in Oak Bluffs?
I am a professor, a teacher, and a financial coach bringing financial education to the urban community and beyond. See you soon. Okay, did you guys hear anything wrong in that message? I heard nothing wrong whatsoever. He's essentially saying this is an elite environment. And if you're gonna come into this elite environment, you better act like an elite.
And at the very least, that just means to behave. Now, for those of you who aren't familiar with Oak Bluffs, I'll show you a quick little video. This was posted by Ralph Lauren. I think they did a collection that had to do with Oak Bluffs and the culture there, just so you can get a vibe for what this place is like and see what this man is speaking to.
Oak Bluffs is home.
I was going to say that.
Sorry.
Black people were able to be here, be free, build a community, and that legacy has lived on.
My aunt, she's 90 years old and lives on the island full time. And she was doing her morning walk and she looked over and MLK just did one of those quick hellos.
Being here, it allowed me, like I said, to unburden myself and to be relaxed.
The fact that I get to do that same walk, my friends live on that same street.

Chapter 6: What are the reactions to the statement about Black Fatigue?
It's just so cool.
Okay, so you get it. It's beachy. It's classy. These people have money and they damn near don't want you to turn it into a carnival cruise. Okay. He got a lot of hate comments on this TikTok that he made talking about having Black people come to Oak Bluff, but you need to know how to behave. People are commenting things like, this was a strange wording.
Professor, you could have worded this differently. What do you mean by this ain't no carnival cruise? And I think we all know exactly what he means when he says this is not a place for fatigue and it's not a place for Black fatigue, but some people are not getting the message. Let me show you one of the response TikToks that he got.
And if I gotta be a good little goater, I don't wanna go. If you have to give me a disclaimer just because I'm black that I need to act a certain kind of way, you ain't gonna worry about it.
i don't need to be there and that man who made the post about coming to oak bluffs i'm sure he's a nice man i'm sure he's a very nice man however i don't understand how y'all are not seeing well i do understand a lot of us still have this mentality still have this perception that we can perform our way out of racism And I fear that y'all are not connecting the dots throughout history.
No matter what we did, no matter what we accomplished, no matter what we gave, it wasn't enough. So if you are a black person and you move to an area that I'm assuming is predominantly white, because those are usually the only areas where a black person like that feels like they need to tell other black people, oh, make sure you act right when you come. I don't want to go there.
I don't want to go. I don't even understand why y'all still aspire to be in predominantly white areas, spaces. Like, no matter what, it's not going to be about whether or not you know how to act.
Okay, let's go ahead and pause there. Now, for one, Oak Bluffs has a lot of Black people in the area. That's neither here nor there. It doesn't matter. We should be behaving well in all
areas and facets of our society it's unbelievable that we even have to have this conversation but of course a left-leaning woke person is going to interpret that message as saying that you somehow need to act for the white man or act wide or you're vying for white acceptance in a white community when that is not at all the case i think the vast majority

Chapter 7: How does the discussion connect to broader societal issues?
We do not want the feeling of Black fatigue. In fact, we are Black people largely in this area who are coming here for a little bit of peace and relaxation. So please don't bring that here. And he's not coming necessarily from a place of massive judgment. I think he's coming from a place where he wants the Black community to be alleviated of this particular reputation.
And he's doing his part in all the work that he's doing, in his financial literacy that he's teaching, you know, Black Americans. There's a lot to be done here. And that's not necessarily performing your way out of racism, although that is a massive benefit Nobody would be saying black fatigue, black fatigue, black fatigue if particular groups of black people weren't acting in this way.
And even black people feel black fatigue and they're fed up with this sort of behavior and they don't want it around them. Now, interestingly enough, other black people have entered the mix to make videos about this guy after he's gone viral for talking about oak bluffs. And they're defending him and saying, you know what?
We all know what he's talking about and we don't want to deal with it either.
So y'all, my FYP never disappoints, okay? One of my mutuals posted this video about Oak Bluffs. He's a Black man and he's describing the area as like the haven for Black wealth, for Black professionals, doctors and lawyers and finance guys, right? Oak Bluff sits on the eastern side of Martha's venue. So anyway, he's telling people, hey, we want you here.
Come and visit if you can act right, because this is not an area for Black fatigues. Anyway, he's getting all this hate, y'all. And most of the hate is from us, the Black community, because he said Black fatigue and you need to act right. And initially, I don't see his original video. I see somebody else's video talking about it, right?
So I said, oh, let me go and find that video so I can assess what he said. While I'm scrolling, y'all, to find the video, I run across the Carnival Cruise Brawl, okay? That is what he's talking about. That is what he's talking about. Case closed. If you didn't see the Carnival Cruise Brawl that just happened, that is what he's talking about.
If you don't know how to act, then don't go to places like that, okay? And I'm just saying, y'all, we got to be able to call each other out in the Black community. Call a spade a spade. You do have to know how to act in these situations. I mean, come on, y'all. Can't nobody say nothing? And it's not just Black folks, okay?
Every race has a segment in their community that is just downright ghetto and embarrassing. But they don't represent the whole, okay? Because I don't know nobody in my circle that would act like that at all. We all know how to conduct ourselves. But personally, I don't see anything that that man said that was wrong. So why he got that kind of pushback is beyond me. Case closed.
