Hey, everybody. Elisa Donovan here, and this is Killer Thriller. Today, I am joined by actress Tahira Sharif to talk about her gripping new lifetime movie, Girl in the Coffin. Tahira plays Jasmine, a young woman grieving the recent death of her mother, who finds comfort in Bill, the seemingly compassionate funeral director who handled her mother's service. but his kindness masks a terrifying obsession and when jasmine wakes up trapped inside a coffin beneath his funeral home she realizes the man she trusted has become her captor so this movie really makes me think about cases like colleen stan who was kidnapped in 1977 when she was just 20 years old and held captive for seven years spending long periods confined in a coffin-like box.
And Colleen's case became an extraordinary example of the power of fear and psychological control. And Girl in the Coffin taps into some of the most chilling dynamics that we've seen play out in real-life crimes. Predators who target people at their most vulnerable, the terrifying power of isolation and psychological control, and victims who have to learn to understand and sometimes outsmart the person holding them captive. So let's get into it. Tahira, welcome to Killer Thriller. Thank you so much for being here with me. Thank you for having me. My pleasure. So congratulations on this movie, which is just wow. It's it's really amazing. It's so disturbing and your work is so, so good in it. So for anyone who hasn't seen Girl in the Coffin, tell us who Jasmine is and how she finds herself in this nightmare.
So the story centers around this character of Jasmine Sutter. She's like just lost her mom, who she was really close to. And so she's kind of, we meet her really in the midst of of loss and grief and whilst you know planning her mother's funeral she encounters this funeral director who you know at first glance is really warm and seems really empathetic and quite relatable but you know obviously turns out to be Probably a bit of a psychopath, actually. Yes. So do you think that he recognizes immediately that she is in this especially vulnerable place? Yeah, I mean, definitely. Look, as much as he's, you know, weird, he's obviously very intelligent because he has to be quite quick on his feet and probably sell her a version of himself that she's going to trust.
