so many of us who absolutely love Catherine O'Hara and love the laughter and joy that she has brought to us for decades now. And yes, I am a huge Schitt's Creek fan, but I know you love Home Alone and so many of the other incredible... Beetlejuice. I mean, she has just been an iconic fixture in comedic movies and television for our generation. And I mean, my daughter... was the first to notify me. She said, no, say it isn't so. Not Catherine O'Hara. She is a legend. And it's, you know, you remember how genius she was, but you also remember how she made you feel.
You know what I didn't necessarily put her in the category of is a comedy legend. I think it's Home Alone because she was hilarious in the movie, but there was a charm and a motherly quality to her that you kind of made her so endearing just as a motherly figure and you didn't necessarily see a comedian performing. That was brilliant. And as I read more and more about her, they talk about how she put so much time and effort into being quirky, into being different. And it came through. But that's why I was like, oh, comedy legend. Oh, that's right. She's fucking hilarious.
My god, I mean and you know, I love how you just put that because I was gonna say her comedy seemed effortless But that speaks to the effort that went on behind the scenes to make sure that's how it came across and I think what what? Resonated so much with fans is yes her individuality. She wasn't following anyone else She wasn't being like anyone else She was so uniquely herself and it's something I think we all aspire to have the confidence to do and become and she was that and she embodied that. And it was, she absolutely was someone to look up to and admire.
And I think I've always admired folks who make something look so easy that you don't realize how hard it is. She was one. There are news anchors I've seen before. People don't even realize how much effort goes into that performance. They just think it shows up and it's natural. No, she put so much work into it. But this is what we know right now, folks. Again, passed away at the age of 71. Apparently there was a call to her home for a medical emergency at around 4.48 a.m.
