And it just so happens, yes, to fall on Thursday, August thirteenth. And this is another inmate who has spent decades on death row. His crime was in two thousand three, so Carlos Cuesto Rodriguez Cuesta Rodriguez is seventy years old n now, but he was forty seven. Uh at the time when he murdered his girlfriend. But this is one of those stories where we always say this and unfortunately it's often true, the most dangerous time for a woman is the day or the time when she decides to leave an abusive relationship. But 70-year-old Carlos Cuesta Rodriguez, um, back in 2003, yeah, his girlfriend was done. She had had enough. He had strangled her, he had threatened her, he installed a A mirror in their bedroom so he could watch her. He was accusing her of Flirting with or cheating on him with a coworker, he was a possessive, controlling, abusive boyfriend, and she finally, finally said, I'm leaving.
So as the um the story goes here, um She made this decision robes to leave and she packed up.

Um He woke up, yes, at four thirty in the morning and uh confronted her. But Robes, what they describe and what ensued is really an uh an incredible violent struggle between three people, right? Including the eighteen year old who is pregnant in there trying to fight him off, trying to get this situation under control, trying to save her mother. Um And yes, after he had shot her in the eye. This took time.

They got there and she was still alive after being shot in the eye. Police were trying to breach the door. That's when they heard another gunshot. He shot her. But shot her in both eyes and killed this woman. This is the guy now who is on Death row. And even though Rhodes he has you know, his lawyers have done their job and he still has some stuff pending.
