American spacecraft has landed on the moon for the first time in 50+ years
23 Feb 2024
The lunar lander Odysseus, created by Houston-based company Intuitive Machines, successfully landed on the moon's surface at 6:24p ET Thursday and has sent back its first images. The moment marks the first commercial spacecraft to soft-land on the moon, and the first American spacecraft to land on the surface since NASA's Apollo program ended in 1972. Retired NASA Astronaut Leland Melvin, CNN's Space and Defense Correspondent Kristin Fisher, and CNN's Aerospace Analyst Miles O'Brien talks to Anderson Cooper about the historic landing. Plus, the Biden administration is set to impose new sanctions on more than 500 Russian targets Friday in response to the death of Alexey Navalny. Former National Security Council Senior Director for Europe and Russia Fiona Hill joins AC360 to talk about the current strain on US-Russia relations. Learn more about your ad choices.
