Jan. 6 Committee Votes To Hold Trump Ally Steve Bannon In Criminal Contempt

20 Oct 2021

Description

The House committee investigating the January 6 attack on the Capitol is moving forward to hold Trump ally Steve Bannon in criminal contempt for refusing to comply with a subpoena. The contempt report will now be referred to the House for a vote. If it passes there, House Speaker Nancy Pelosi will certify the report to the U.S. attorney for the District of Columbia. Rep. Elaine Luria is a member of that committee. She tells Anderson Cooper the message the vote sends is “the law applies to everyone and Mr. Bannon should understand that he can’t evade a subpoena from Congress.” Plus, Alex Murdaugh, the embattled attorney accused of misappropriating millions of dollars in funds meant for the family of his longtime housekeeper, was denied bond. CNN Correspondent Amara Walker gives AC360 details about what happened in court and what’s next for Murdaugh. Airdate: October 19, 2021 Guests: Rep.
