Anderson Cooper 360

More than 500,000 coronavirus cases in the U.S. as deaths top 18,000

11 Apr 2020

Description

There are more than 500,000 coronavirus cases in the U.S. with California accounting for more than 21,000 of those cases. That's compared to nearly 175,000 cases in New York. California Governor Gavin Newsom tells Anderson Cooper the reason the numbers in California are relatively lower than New York's is because the 40 million people in his state have practiced social distancing and stayed at home but now is not the time to back down. Plus, Dr. Chris Murray joins AC360 to discuss his group's latest modeling and says if social distancing ends in May the number of cases and deaths would spike again.
