| Zooming in on quality of contact with Liana Antanovich Equestrians of today are increasingly more compassionate and tuned into equine welfare. Some top riders in show jumping and dressage are winning on barefoot horses, and dressage is leading the way watching for blue tongs in a show ring using judges eyes. Having judge’s observation as a tracking “tool” is somewhat possible in dressage, but not quite feasible in other equestrian disciplines. Hear some discussion points by Anne Axel and Liana Antanovich. “Blue tongs should not be happening in dressage, especially in top competitions. Lightness in contact, throughness, and self-carriage are elements of collection that is to be achieved in daily training and demonstrated in a show ring”, believes Liana. “What other measuring points are available and can be used for tracking quality of contact with horse’s mouth? That is our near area of development as equestrian community and sport.” Liana is a trainer and a dressage judge with equestrian experiences spanning Belarus, Russia, Europe, and the United States. She judges classical dressage, eventing dressage, para dressage, western dressage, and working equitation. Liana;s passion for equines shines through as she advocates for compassionate treatment and emphasizes the importance of genuine friendships with horses. Her mission is to disseminate invaluable knowledge on designing training plans for sport horses, nurturing a community that values and respects these magnificent animals.
