Chapter 1: What scene did Mario Cantone's character first appear in on Sex and the City?

0.031 - 6.038 Dr. Priyanka Wally

This is an iHeart Podcast. Guaranteed human. Hi, I'm Dr. Priyanka Wally.

It's a new year, and on the podcast Health Stuff, we're resetting the way we talk about our health.

0

11.986 - 28.33 Hari Kundabolu

Which means being honest about what we know, what we don't know, and how messy it can all be. I like to sleep in late and sleep early. Is there a chronotype for that, or am I just depressed? Health stuff is about learning, laughing, and feeling a little less alone.

Chapter 2: What was the cut scene that caused stress for Kristin Davis?

34.743 - 51.592 Dr. Jesse Mills

This is Dr. Jesse Mills, host of the Mailroom Podcast. Each January, men promise to get stronger, work harder, and fix what's broken. But what if the real work isn't physical at all? I sat down with psychologist Dr. Steve Poulter to unpack shame, anxiety, and the emotional pain men were never taught how to name.

Part of the way through the valley of despair is realizing this has happened, and you have to make a choice whether you're going to stay in it or move forward.

A decade ago, I was on the trail of one of the country's most elusive serial killers. But it wasn't until 2023 when he was finally caught. The answers were there, hidden in plain sight.

Chapter 3: How did Mario Cantone's off-Broadway show impact his filming schedule?

78.486 - 96.087 Hari Kundabolu

So why did it take so long to catch him? I'm Josh Zeman, and this is Monster, hunting the Long Island serial killer. 129.714 - 144.186 Kristin Davis

Hi, I'm Kristen Davis, and I want to know, are you a Charlotte? We are back for the second time with Mario Cantone, which is so fantastic because this is your first episode on the air.

0

144.646 - 148.172 Mario Cantone

It is, it is. I always thought it was episode 12, but it's not. It's episode 11.

148.433 - 166.522 Kristin Davis

I know, and it's called Running With Scissors, but I think the reason you might have thought it was 12 was because we shot two at once, as we always did, right? Because in my mind, I remember the other Vera Wang episode where the girls are there. Like there's two Vera Wang visits, but we shot them in one day.

Chapter 4: What was the significance of the 'Running with Scissors' title?

166.542 - 186.546 Mario Cantone

Oh, that's right. And I remember I came in at three in the afternoon. Wow. And I was in an off-Broadway show at the time. Got it. Yeah, it was called The Crumple Zone. And it was Ran for like six months. It did really well. Got great reviews. And I remember that particular night was one of our tech nights.

0

186.827 - 187.288 Kristin Davis

Oh, no.

0

187.568 - 194.121 Mario Cantone

And they weren't going to let me out. And I was like, you can get someone else to stand here while you wait for an evening because I'm going.

0

194.381 - 206.997 Kristin Davis

Definitely. And I went. For sure. So wait, if you came in at three in the afternoon, maybe we did. We filmed till four at night. I do remember that it was stressful and long.

0

Chapter 5: How do the characters navigate their complicated relationships?

207.358 - 230.578 Kristin Davis

And I remember that our executive from HBO came and sat across from us and glared at us. I mean, not that it was our fault, but like, just let it be known that we were over budget. Uh-huh. Yeah, it was one of those days. There's only a few. Michael Hill. Michael Hill came. And I remember that because I was like, oh, he never comes. Oh, no. But I think it was expensive to shoot in Vera Wang.

0

230.939 - 233.726 Mario Cantone

Probably was. And it was so small. Remember how small it was?

0

233.746 - 236.132 Kristin Davis

Tiny. It was hard to film there.

0

236.112 - 260.854 Mario Cantone

yeah and also that evening was my husband's opening night of an off-broadway show he was in wow it's called bubbly black girl sheds her chameleon skin and i did i couldn't go yeah but i remember uh yeah we we you we talked about this last time and you didn't remember it i'm sure you remember it now because i told you last time but there was a second scene

0

261.357 - 265.241 Kristin Davis

Ooh, I still only have the vaguest memory.

265.341 - 275.492 Mario Cantone

What was it? It was us, you know, where we were sitting and looking at the dresses. There was a little room in the back of that with the door.

Chapter 6: What does Charlotte's reaction to Carrie’s affair reveal about her character?

275.873 - 276.754 Kristin Davis

Like a dressing room.

0

277.194 - 284.222 Mario Cantone

Yeah, and we were in that dressing room, and I was fitting you and trying to cut something with the scissors, and I ended up ripping the dress.

0

284.302 - 289.588 Kristin Davis

Which is really interesting because it's running with scissors is the title of this episode.

0

290.669 - 304.761 Mario Cantone

And you, we just glared, you glared at me and I was just like, Oh, and that was the end of that scene. And that was the end of that. Oh, wow. I don't know if that had stayed in, if we had, we would have come back and become friends.

305.162 - 315.711 Kristin Davis

I mean, I assume that they loved you so much that they didn't want there to be a negative thing, but I also feel this episode has so much plot in it for everyone else.

315.751 - 320.416 Mario Cantone

Like it's a lot. And the Aiden thing. And, Oh yeah. It's a lot.

320.476 - 330.391 Kristin Davis

It's so much that I feel, you know, there were times, I mean, this has always been true for us. We over overshoot, right? We always have too much and then we have to pick and choose.

330.411 - 337.462 Mario Cantone

Always. Don't get me started on just like that. There were two scenes of ours to this last season that were cut.

Chapter 7: How do the characters reflect on their past experiences in this episode?

337.742 - 364.43 Mario Cantone

No way. Oh yes. Remember that? Remember the one in the, um, in the, um, the bakery and it was after the puppet thing. And I said to you, I need to talk about the puppet more. And I was like, I was this old guy glaring at him and you were like, well, Oh, great scene. And it got cut. That's sad. Oh, and then there was a scene with the red rooster between me and you before I apologized to Carrie.

0

364.69 - 371.261 Mario Cantone

Oh, yeah. That was cut, which I was furious about because it was the bridge to me apologizing.

0

371.301 - 386.806 Kristin Davis

Right, right, right. I remember that. I remember that. But we always overfilm. We always overfilm. And one time I said to Michael Patrick, I said, couldn't we... cut from the read-through so that we don't, because we're always just really basically killing ourselves to get everything filmed.

0

Chapter 8: What themes emerge regarding friendship and loyalty in this episode?

387.307 - 393.176 Kristin Davis

And also we spend a lot of money getting everything filmed. And he said, no, because I don't know in the edit what's going to work.

0

393.196 - 395.64 Mario Cantone

He doesn't. Yeah, he doesn't.

0

395.88 - 416.094 Kristin Davis

But let me just say this about you when I watched this first episode, because obviously I hadn't watched this episode in, you know, 30 years or whatever it is, 25 years. You are just a breath of fresh air, like your energy. You're just like a blast of energy. It's so refreshing and exciting. Like you're a note that we didn't have in the ensemble.

0

416.515 - 416.736 Mario Cantone

Yeah.

0

416.976 - 418.258 Kristin Davis

Do you feel that when you watch it?

418.659 - 431.065 Mario Cantone

Yeah. When I watch it, I was like, wow, this, I mean, it was just, it's funny. It's good. I just, it works. And I don't know. I feel that I was I'm happy with it when I watch.

431.085 - 441.044 Kristin Davis

Definitely. Right. I mean, you're so young also. Like, it's so funny to look at you and me, obviously, too. But I mean, we're little children. I don't think I felt like a little child back then.

441.084 - 450.5 Mario Cantone

You didn't. Right. Neither did I. We felt like we were, you know, I mean, adult. We were. You know, but what I will. That was 2000. That was we filmed that 99.

450.64 - 456.368 Kristin Davis

No, I think we filmed it in 2000. Because it's it aired August 20. So we would have filmed it earlier in the summer.
