Art Dealer Diaries Podcast

Greg Newbold: Western Landscape Painter and Illustrator - Epi. 119, Host Dr. Mark Sublette

23 Sep 2020

Description

I had Utah artist Greg Newbold on the podcast today. I've represented Greg for only a couple years and, believe it or not, I found him on Facebook. For those artists out there that wonder: "how do I get into a great art gallery," people like myself look on social media from time to time and we find the artists that have a voice and unique sensibilities about their artwork. When I came across Greg's work, I immediately said "WOW! Who is this guy?" Greg is an interesting individual and we discuss his early days as an illustrator and his time teaching at BYU. During all of this, Greg had the desire to be a fine artist in the back of his mind and as of late he's blown away any doubt that he was meant to be a fine artist. He's one of those artists that keeps you hooked as you watch their reputation unfold in front of you. I  think he's at that point  now where when we look back ten years from now, we'll go "Oh my gosh, I could've had a Greg Newbold and it was actually affordable!" I ended up speaking with Greg for more than an hour and twenty minutes and it was effortless as he's just a fun guy to talk to. He recorded his portion of the zoom call in his studio and I think being able to see an artist discuss their artwork makes it a little more granular. This is a great podcast for everyone (especially artists), enjoy this episode of the Art Dealer Diaries Podcast featuring Greg Newbold. To view Greg Newbold's work visit: https://www.medicinemangallery.com/search/?q=greg%20newbold
