How did they ever make a movie of Lolita??? We attempt to answer that question with our guest Sophia Longoria, who is a Galveston-based artist that explores her personal experiences with inherited trauma and mental illness through figurative painting. As we discuss this movie directed by Stanley Kubrick, Sophia examines the repetitive use of the term "normal", allowing the viewer to see the inherit fallacy in this concept as it is used to describe predators. By cloaking the villains with the flavor of banality, this dark comedy shows us how humor can make us feel uncomfortable when it is sprinkled on top of a monster.
