23 Aug 2021

Description

This Spotlight honors Shirley Paski, MD, MS, FRCP(C), director of small bowel diseases and nutrition at Cedars-Sinai Medical Center in Los Angeles, CA. Dr. Paski, who completed her residency in Canada, shares some of the differences between Canadian and US healthcare. She has built nutrition programs with multidisciplinary teams at the VA hospital at the University of Washington and at Cedars-Sinai. Most of her current research projects are collaborative, related to short bowel syndrome. She strives to provide patients with comprehensive care and services. One of the challenges she faces in running an interdisciplinary nutrition support team is negotiating with administration regarding reimbursement. Physician Spotlight is a forum for outstanding Senior Leaders, Young Rising Stars, and International Colleagues in the field of nutrition to discuss important topics and ideas that impact patient care.
