This podcast highlights an abstract from ASPEN20 in which a study looking at trends of liver profiles, micronutrients, nutrition, and growth for pediatric intestinal failure patients undergoing intestinal rehabilitation while using a mixed oil intravenous lipid emulsion with the goal of providing up to 30% of parenteral nutrition calories from lipids. The study was successful in delivering up to 30% of calories from lipids, allowing a decrease in glucose infusion rate and an increase in concentration of kcals per hour reducing overall hours per day of TPN.
