The blast came from a supermassive black hole at the centre of a galaxy 390 million light-years away in the Ophiuchus galaxy cluster. Next up, the FRB mystery intensifies We’ve been reporting on FRB’s since 2016 and interviewed leading FRB researchers, starting with Dr Manisha Caleb and her work using the Molonglo Synthesis Telescope. Since then, many new and old instruments like FAST, OVRO, CHIME, Greenbank, Arecibo, ASKAP and Parkes have all successfully joined in the search for FRBs.
