Attention Talk Radio

The Importance of Emotion in Understanding and Managing ADHD

10 Mar 2011

Description

Medical papers dating back to 1798 always included emotion in the conceptualization of ADHD. This continued up to the 1970 Diagnostic and Statistical manual of Mental Disorders, 2nd Ed. (DSM)-II). Since then, emotional dysregulation has been excluded from the clinical conceptualization of the condition. In this episode, your host, ADHD and attention coach Jeff Copper, interviews Dr. Russell Barkley who argues why emotion needs to be returned to a central place in ADHD. Attention Talk Radio is the leading site for self-help Internet radio shows focusing on attention deficit hyperactivity disorder (ADHD) and attention deficit disorder (ADD), including managing sysptoms in adults with ADD or adults who have children with ADHD. Attention Talk Radio, hosted by attention coach Jeff Copper, is designed to help adults and children (particularly those with or impacted by attention deficit disorder or its symptoms) in life or business who are stuck, overwhelmed, or frustrated. It helps adults and children get unstuck and moving forward by helping to open their minds and pay attention to what works.
