Property investors often talk about using debt to build wealth. In the share market, that's called gearing. With the BetaShares WealthBuilder range, investors can access moderate gearing into shares, and with the newly launched GG-BL, That means exposure to a diversified portfolio of around 1,300 global companies excluding Australia, all with no loan applications, credit checks, or margin calls. Gearing magnifies both gains and losses, so it's only suitable for investors with a very high tolerance for risk. You can learn more about the WealthBuilder range of ETFs at the BetaShares website. And don't forget to read the PDS and TMD to decide if it's right for you. BetaShares Capital Limited is the issuer.

Thanks for taking some time to join me on the podcast. No worries, man. Thanks for having me. Where are you joining us from? I'm in Melbourne. Where are you? I'm in Perth. Perth, okay. Looks like we've got a pretty good internet connection. So hopefully it hangs with us the whole time. But it's a super special day for us because I know you've got the book coming out. We're recording this ahead of the launch, but this episode will probably air after that, which is super exciting, mate, like a culmination of all your blogging, podcasting over the years.
Owen Rask 2:50
And I, for one, find your story to be very inspiring. Like the book, reading the book, your blog posts, and just the general demeanor when it comes to personal finance and investing is just refreshing. So I think this conversation is going to be a lot of fun for people that are interested in like how to design your lifestyle, how to save, how to balance life with work and finance and everything that comes with that. But maybe just to set the scene, can you just explain like a quick overview of what FIRE means?
Dave Gow 3:29
Sure. So I suppose everyone would have heard of the acronym by now.
Owen Rask 3:34
Yeah.
Dave Gow 3:34
So FIRE stands for Financial Independence Retire Early. And essentially, it's turned into somewhat of a movement, I suppose, where a large group of people, typically young people, but not always, are deciding to use their money differently. And instead of spending it all, as soon as they get it, they're deciding to save and invest for the future. And in doing so, over time, building up a portfolio of investments, building up wealth and building up some passive income so that they can start gaining more control over their life and have more freedom as a result of that.
