What alternative investment strategies does Matt Raad suggest for building wealth?

Gemma Mitchell 0:00
Property investors often talk about using debt to build wealth. In the share market, that's called gearing. With the BetaShares WealthBuilder range, investors can access moderate gearing into shares, and with the newly launched GG-BL, That means exposure to a diversified portfolio of around 1,300 global companies excluding Australia, all with no loan applications, credit checks, or margin calls. Gearing magnifies both gains and losses, so it's only suitable for investors with a very high tolerance for risk. You can learn more about the WealthBuilder range of ETFs at the BetaShares website. And don't forget to read the PDS and TMD to decide if it's right for you. BetaShares Capital Limited is the issuer.

This sounds unbelievable, but if you can get the AdSense sites working, it's 80% margins. One of our clients, I remember she kind of, they're builders and they used to flip houses. She went to her accountant, she was really successful with our strategy, and her accountant just looked at her figures and said, are you... you got a problem here. This doesn't look real. You think about it, five grand is way less than a uni degree. So I think of Aisling or Alyssa, young Alyssa, she's 19. She took a break from studying business, which is how much is a business degree these days? What, 20 grand a year or something? We're having a bit of a hex debt, yeah. Why wouldn't you take a year off and spend five grand?
Worst case scenario, it goes to zero, but you've got the knowledge to change your life, without a doubt, without a doubt.

Great to be here. You've been on a couple of times. We always love this and lots and lots of value. We'll be diving into some pretty interesting subject and things I think are on a lot of people's minds. How can we make money?
Online, of course, Gemma. You knew I was going to say that. But buying and selling businesses. You've got to have your own business.

We have so many questions. Absolutely so many questions. So for those who don't know you, I'm going to link some of our old episodes anyway, but red kangaroo expert to digital assets. Tell us about that.
Where do I start? So both my wife and I, Liz, are from the country. And for some strange reason, both of us decided to study zoology many, many years ago. That's where we met. And we realized very quickly that was not going to lead to financial independence. So both of us were very driven by that. We both wanted freedom style lifestyle and we wanted to live back in the country. So we got an opportunity to buy a small business.
