EP 33 - Chuck a Wobbly We all know learning a language can be hard, frustrating and challenging. And sometimes it gets a little too much. Maybe we have little outbursts like a child would. And in Australian English, we have a great expression for this - to chuck a wobbly. But, we are here to help! We hope to limit your wobblies and this episode gives you some great tips! We are talking to Clayton, an Australian living in Korea, and his experience learning a new language, culture and completely new character set or alphabet. His story is interesting and you will learn about new places and travel destinations in Australia. Maybe even about the relative distances in Australia between places. It's also a great opportunity to learn from memory champions to help us in our learning journey. All language use requires some kind base founded on memorisation. But how do we go about it? This is where mnemonics comes in - patterns, pictures, rhymes, songs, acronyms and any other little mental game you can think of to help you retrieve information. We talk with Clayton and discuss how we can use these strategies in our classes. We also teach you how you can use them at home, while you are walking or even while listening to this podcast. We hope by the end of this podcast you will feel much more relaxed, and maybe prevent chucking a wobbly the next time.
