I had a fantastic talk with Amanda Quick, author of The Sex Trafficker's Wife: A Story of Truth, Faith, and Trust in Self, where she shares what it is like writing a memoir, things you should think of before writing a memoir, and the importance of self-care through the process. Memoir: Sharing Your Story. In the book, she shares about the night her husband didn't come home, and she discovered he had been arrested for Human Trafficking. She shares her story of deception, judgment, and overall healing, noting that a memoir is usually about a very charged event. Self-Care While Writing a Memoir While writing, she would take intentional breaks to give her mind, body, and spirit a chance to process the different aspects. She made sure she was aware of what was going on in her body and taking the necessary steps to be healthy for her entire being before proceeding further. Importance of Being Healed When Writing a Memoir She also points out the necessary step of being healed enough to share your story in a way that will be helpful to others.
