And the following day, you were called in for what you assumed was going to be an administrative meeting following the fact that your contract had just been extended. But no, you were basically summarily dismissed from your job the following day. No request... to hear your side of the story, what had been going on. You were just basically fired from one day to the next.
Let me hear this, please, in your words, because as I have been studying this case, perhaps I'll ask you for your opinion on this. I find it very difficult to believe that this would have ever happened to a representative of another faith. Explicitly, I can never see this happening. Yeah, well, thank you for having me and allowing me a platform to get my story across. I'm at the end of my teaching career, and I was easing out of that career by doing substitute teaching. And in Scotland, that's a very casual sort of thing. And I was called up to go to Arbroath High School, which is a small town on the eastern coast of northern Scotland. And one day when I was doing a number of different teaching assignments at the school, I walked into a history class. And as always... The kids were very curious once I opened my mouth. Once they realized that I was American, the kids always, always have a lot of questions about America. Normally, it's all about different fast food places that they've heard about, or yellow school buses seem to be very interesting to them for some reason.
But I got those usual things as well as the usual, have you ever been in a school shooting kind of thing? And at one point when I was trying to take the register, I believe, I heard, what about abortion? What do you think about abortion? And I simply, I thought for a second and I had asked them earlier how old they were and I got answers of 15. And the fact that they had brought up the subject themselves made me think, okay, well, they're old enough to be hearing something about abortion.
