On Episode 10 of Barbell Radio, I chat with 22 year old powerlifter from New Zealand, Maui Makino Koopu. Being one of the best powerlifting athletes in his country, I throw tons of questions about his lifting career/ technique, passion in the sport and also about the powerlifting scene in New Zealand. Maui is also half Japanese and I also happen to spend a lot of time growing up in Australia (which is pretty much a big brother to New Zealand ok don’t kill me please), so we were able to discuss what makes each countries’ lifting culture so unique.
