Chapter 1: What is the main focus of the conversation with Rei Clarke?
Welcome to the shit show. Things are going to get weird. It's your fave villain, Kale Lowry. And you're listening to Barely Famous. All right, y'all. Welcome back to another episode of Barely Famous Podcast. Today, I'm sitting with your favorite person, probably from TikTok, Facebook, maybe even Instagram. Rae, welcome to Barely Famous. Thanks. Thanks for having me.
So you recorded with Kate and Ty. I did. On their podcast. How did that go? It went great. Good. I'm glad. Did you go to Michigan for that? I did. Okay. Okay. I'm glad. That's good. If you haven't listened to that episode, go over to Break It Down with Kate and Ty. And Rae was on that episode as well. Before we get into the nitty gritty of everything, I have three questions.
And these ones were – like I came up with them this morning. The rest of them are printed. And I'm getting ready this morning and I'm like, you know what? Let me ask her. So first of all, have you ever reported on reality shows of any kind anonymously? Like without your face on them? No. No.
You never did. No. Okay.
Interesting. And then has anyone ever submitted tea to you about me? No. Really? Really. Really. This person said this, but then it, like, got back to this person. Yeah.
Yeah. So it's kind of like... No, I've never heard tea about you. Never. It's more so, like, this and this went down. Okay.

Chapter 2: How does Rei Clarke source and verify information in the age of rumors?
You know? But not... Like, pushed me up on it, but no. Not, like, insider stuff. Okay. Okay, fair.
Have you ever been a kale hater? Once, yeah. Oh, what did I do?
When the whole... It was the whole, like, Isaac and the hair thugging thing.
Yeah, no, that was completely understandable. Everyone should have hated me then. That was implicit bias. And I feel like that part of my life, I... have really tried to like educate myself since then and really do the work with therapy, but also like the books that I read and stuff. And so I, but people don't ever really forgive me for that.
So. And I see that. Right. So it's, I can't just go based off of one thing. Right. Right. So if I'm like, okay, well, yeah, she said something. Cause somebody even brought it up to me. Like, how can you defend her? She called like Isaac's haircut a thug. Okay. Well, but what else has she done to improve from that? Like, Clearly, she's not racist. That's what people love to say.
But I definitely think it was implicit bias, though, educating myself because I didn't know what implicit bias was. So I couldn't know what I don't know. Right. So I feel like I've done a lot of work to sort of eliminate that or at least be more self-aware. Right. And so I wish that more people would give me the chance to talk about it. But now we have this episode, I guess.
Yeah.
Um, that was fair though. Like I, when people did judge me for it and even when they do now, like I hope to always have a conversation about it because I do feel like I've learned from it, but I could see why someone hates me for that.
Yeah. But aside from that, no.

Chapter 3: What challenges does Rei face in balancing personal life and content creation?
Yeah. And nothing was ever working. So I would delete it and start over again. Okay. Fair. And, um, eventually my wife was the one that, uh, brought it to my attention because I would watch something and I'd be like, oh my God, like, did you hear about blah, blah, blah, blah, blah. And she's like, look, like I love you, but I don't care. Like I'm sitting here because you want to watch the show.
So I'm watching it with you. I don't give a shit about everything else. I feel like that's a lot of relationships though. So yeah. And so I was like, okay, fine. I'm just going to like go on TikTok and talk about it. And See what happens. Yeah. Just blew up from there. So it started on TikTok. It started on TikTok.
Oh, interesting. Okay. I feel like I was late to the TikTok game. Like I wasn't really making them. I was just kind of consuming TikTok. Right. Did you think that it was going to make you money at any point or did you just do it for fun?
No, I only did it for fun. I never thought I'd be here.
Like never. That's exciting though. It is. It's like a passion project turned into like your job, you know?
Yeah.
What was the first thing that you remember like talking about? Janelle. Oh, it started with teen mom. You only, you don't only do teen mom though, do you? No. Oh my gosh. Okay. What did she do? Well, it was, she might say, we need to, we need to talk about this for view. She might say that.
First of all, I started because the bitch got divorced from the man that was like ruining her life, ruining her life. So that's what I was talking about. Okay. Um, so does she want to say that she started my, my ladder up? Sure.

Chapter 4: How does cancel culture impact public figures differently?
Okay. Okay. No problem. But I didn't just start with Janelle. Like, I was talking about, like, housewives. What really blew me up was talking about Gypsy Rose.
For you, who is, like, reporting on housewives, teen mom, Gypsy Rose, all of the things, how do you – because surely you're not –
unbiased like you have to have like favorites people you like yeah like so do you let that come through in your content or do you try to be unbiased or how do you I do try to be unbiased but do I come off as biased sometimes yeah sure like I'm human you know I'm not perfect um I'm not like a a newscast even though sometimes I may come off as like reporter news vibe you know um
For example, Gypsy Rose. I was all for Gypsy Rose coming out. Me too. I was really excited for her to start this new venture. And so when people were like, who cares? She's a murderer. Shame on you for defending her. I'm like, look, until somebody gives me a reason not to, I'm for it. Yeah. And I would talk. I DMed Gypsy. We were talking. All of that jazz, right?
But it wasn't until we started conversing more. Right. And- I started to see more of her true self come out that I was slowly pushing myself back. And then everything else kind of just fell into place. That's so crazy. It's like a domino effect.
I don't watch housewives. I know very little about it, but have you talked to some of the girls on there, the women? I've talked to a few of the housewives on there.
Yeah. Like they're very chill, but you can tell because they've been doing this for so long and I'm so upset that I'm late to the game, but You can tell that they are very careful with what they say, like how they say it.
You don't have to worry about that with the cast of Teen Mom. I think I have a hard time with reality TV because I was on it. So I kind of know like, okay, that was probably set up or like that was sort of like.
It was more like produced.

Chapter 5: What role does accountability play in reporting on social media scandals?
And so then they have to sort of produce it. Like there was no other option. Does MTV miss you? They did ask for me back twice after I officially left. Since I left in 2022, and Alessandra can attest to this, like producers have cold called me out of nowhere, specifically from Teen Mom to be like, hey, what are you working on? What can we talk about?
Like, is there anything that you're doing right now that we could – You know, film about. And I'm like, sometimes I toy with the idea and I maybe would go back. But then other times I'm like, I'm so far removed from it that I just can't picture myself living that sort of life anymore. Like the, in real time.
Can I say that like my hopes and dreams for you is to have a killer network for TV? That would be so fun.
We've said that. Listen, rags to riches, babe. I just think it would be cool because there's so much that goes on behind the scenes and there's tons of work drama. Like- anywhere. Everyone has a story here and we all sometimes fight and we all sometimes don't. And sometimes it's great. And sometimes it's not.
Do you think that when you talk to someone from a show that it sort of changes your perception of them or is it hit or missed? Does it depend on the person? It depends, but I definitely do try to keep an open mind.
Right. So if I didn't like you, like, look, I even, for example, I did hit up Janelle, right? And I was like, Hey, I'm going to be in Vegas on, on these days for these days. I still was talking shit about her, but I was like, but do you want, like, do you want to meet up? Like, do you want to meet up? Maybe I can hear your perspective. Right. She didn't respond. I said, okay, fuck it.
I'm going to keep talking my shit. I read something. I want to say it was like last week and it was that Americans were consuming more news. And broadcast via TikTok than they were any other platform. And I find that so interesting because I'm like, it's so bite size on TikTok, which is really nice. Like we don't have to turn on the news to like learn it. Yeah.
But how do you get some of your information that you know to be factual? Because I think that. sometimes sources can be weird because you're like, okay, this person was close to this person. Can I really depend on what they're saying?
No, when you come into my DMs and you're telling me some shit, like you need to back it up. Okay. You're not just going to report on any, no, like I'm never going to say now if it's like a, a rumor, right? I'm like, yo, like word on the street, right? This, this was tea.

Chapter 6: How does Rei navigate the line between reporting and personal opinion?
This was a drama. I'm not saying it's true. Right. Okay.
I'm here to say I've heard.
Okay. But, um, but aside from that, no, I like, if you're telling me something that's really serious, like back, back it up. Like I told Caitlin, show me your work. Cause I'm not going to go on here and get myself a C and D or, you know, get sued because y'all want to run your mouse over something. That's crazy.
Finding the one can feel impossible, and in today's world, it's even harder. False profiles, inaccurate pictures, incompatibilities, ghosting on dates. Is this sounding familiar? But if you're ready to make the move to a new place, it doesn't have to feel like dating. All it takes is a simple search on apartments.com to find your perfect match.

cozy studio in a walkable city or even a single family home in a cul-de-sac you can find a place that checks all the right boxes so whichever stage of life you're in settle down in your perfect home by using apartments.com no more swiping or awkward first dates make it easier to get a place that gets you visit apartments.com the place to find
Well, this is why it's like, okay, for you to be a T page, like I understand, like you have a job to do, you're reporting on real things. I get that and I fully respect it and I have no problems with it. The problem I have is when you take someone who you do give like a good, not you specifically, but just like reporters, broadcasters, journalists in general,
giving people, okay, well, we know that this is a credible source. But when you really dig into the nitty gritty of all of it, it's like, oh, wow, this goes levels and levels and levels deep. Be careful because you truly don't know and who you think you can trust. Maybe you necessarily, you don't, you're not necessarily able to trust him.
But so how do you build like the credibility and the trust between who is consuming your content and what you're saying? Because I feel like there have definitely been some, I hate to call them T-pages. but essentially T pages, like I've seen them and they're just, it's strictly opinions. It's not really factual. It's like, they're sort of like putting together.

Chapter 7: What does Rei believe about the future of reality TV and its impact on individuals?
So if you're like, okay, I reported this earlier in the week, but this is what I just learned. You're going to just be transparent.
Right. Okay. And that's, that's why I've learned. I've definitely learned not to make multiple videos back to back to back to back and just wait for everything to subside so that
I can come to the full story. Especially when it comes to like breaking news and like breaking information. What if someone gets to the breaking information before you do? Does that impact how you do your videos? Or you would rather let it see, like sort of let the dust settle before you report on something.
So generally what I would do, like I did yesterday, I was like, yo, like kale.
I was saying some shit. I did not tell my team I was doing that. I just did it. And I was supposed to take a break from TikTok. I don't know. Like, I was supposed to take, like, a one-day break. And I just posted that video. And I didn't warn anyone. I just did it.
But listen, I was like, this is...
Real time.
Yeah. Like this is real time. Now, if some other shit is popping off, I'll let y'all know later. Right. But for now, stay tuned. I think I'm always but I see I'm always somebody that like goes to the source. Like, do you have good success with that, though? Yeah, because listen, my aunt Tina, like my aunt Tina was like basically like another mom to me. Right.
Like she helped raise me and her idioms are like top tier. But she was always like, did you hear from the horse's mouth? Okay. Did you hear it from them? No. Okay. Let's, let's move on with life.

Chapter 8: How can listeners engage with Rei Clarke's content on social media?
Who the hell is that? Have you ever watched Even Stevens? Yeah. Do you remember Beans? Yeah. That's Beans. What happened to him? He accused a co-worker of being a pedophile and he claimed that Universal Studios fired him. Fired beans or fired the pedophiles? Okay.
For out of retaliation, which I was like, this doesn't make sense because you'd be able to sue Universal if they sued you for retaliation. Like you went to human resources, so that doesn't make sense. So I started like trying to uncover more. I noticed that TMZ immediately swapped it, like swapped their headline as soon as Universal made a statement and said the allegations were false.
And then I have still right now like people in my DMs that are former employees have worked with alongside him that were like, no, this is the truth. These are the receipts. What he said was the truth? What he said was false. Like they were like, this is – he's lying. This is who he really is. This is what we've had to deal with and these are the receipts to back them up.
Dealing with people like that in real life is –
incredibly stressful when you're in front of them and you're around them you believe what they're saying and they sound credible and they sound like oh wow like okay maybe I do need to look at this a different way and then you take a step back from them and you're like oh no I hate them again because you realize who they are and it's it's so interesting to be around people like that in person because you you want to believe them well I feel like those kind of people are dangerous they're so dangerous because you it's sort of like not quite narcissism because they believe what they're saying on that note
I'm going to share something. So my therapist told me, because I had told her, why am I always dealt a shitty hand? Why am I always, I mean, my wife excluded, why am I always with, or why do these people always fucking find me? Why am I always- Why do I attract this? Right. What am I fucking doing so I know not to fucking do it?
And she told me, she says, listen, there was a project that happened with prisoners, okay? Mm-hmm. They had women that had gone through trauma, abuse, rape, all of that, walk through a hallway. They also had women that had literally lived behind the white picket fence, no problem, also walk through. The prisoners could tell every single time.
that a woman that had trauma passed by every single time. And when they asked them, how did you know? They were like, I don't know. It's something in their brain chemistry that they are still trying to figure out. It is not that you seek them. It is that they seek you.
I think if people teach their kids to know, and I'm not saying it will never happen to them, but I think growing up when you instill some level of confidence in your children and start it from a really young age, They sort of know their worth.
