Chapter 1: What is the main topic discussed in this episode?
Yeah, there should be some passion. This doesn't have to be boring. Hey, one thing the game needs is more people like you. You. You. You. You. You. You. You. You. You. You. You. You. You. You. Welcome to Baseball Isn't Boring. Here's your host, Rob Radford. It must seem like a long time ago, but what do you remember about that one playoff game you played in?
Yeah, I mean... What I kind of remember was I wasn't playing that much in September and then the last week or so I started playing a little bit more. Yeah, it was a whirlwind. I mean, I was just trying to kind of experience September with the big league team and learn as much as possible and try not to say anything and stay out of everyone's way and just get my work in.
I remember a lot of early buses, a lot of early batting practice and a lot of ground balls and things like that.
Chapter 2: What does Rob Refsnyder remember about his first playoff game?
I started playing a little bit more in September that year, and then we played the Houston Astros and facing Dallas Keuchel, who was having an incredible year. Yeah, so that's what I remember.
It was a whirlwind, though. So as you get dropped into this, does it seem like that's a lifetime ago, or is there anything you can pick up from that?
Yeah, I remember my parents were thinking about not coming just because of logistics and it was kind of a hard travel. And I remember just thinking like, man, like this, you know, you never really know in this game. Nothing's nothing's promised. Right. And nothing's guaranteed. And I was like, well, we should really try to make this happen.
And I remember spending a lot of money at that time on a plane ticket and hotels and everything like that. And just because they live in Southern California and Yeah, it was my only postseason experience, so I'm glad they were able to experience that. We unfortunately didn't play a great game and we lost, but...
Yeah, it seems like a very long time ago, but I still can kind of remember some things about it. And now you're still buying plane tickets and it's all over again, right? Yeah, my dad was stressed, like, where are you guys going? And I was like, well, we don't really know. This was like two days ago. So, no, they get in today. And, yeah, so it would be great to see them.
I haven't seen my parents in a little bit, so my sister's flying in as well.
Yeah. Just to be not only in this situation, but in your role, you know, Yankees already starting two big lefties. It's kind of knowing you're going to be out there. How exciting is that for you?
Yeah, it's a it's an extreme challenge. I mean, those are two really, really good arms. They have really good arms. And especially playing in this environment, the fans are going to be juiced up both sides. So it's, you know, it's what you prepare for. And it's a great challenge. Freed has some of the best stuff in the game and his velocity's ticked up over his last couple of starts.
If you guys have seen, he's throwing 97, 98, 99 with that much movement and his repertoire. And so it's, like I said, it's not gonna be a great day for the back of your baseball card, but he's one of the best pitchers in the world with his stuff getting even better every start. So it's gonna be a great challenge for us.

Chapter 3: How does Rob feel about his family's support during the playoffs?
And, yeah, I think there's still so much room for him to keep playing and getting better. So it'll be awesome watching him keep going. But we definitely feed off each other. we've kind of jumped between who bats first and who bats a little bit later in the lineup. So just having that communication and that dialogue with the bats, our swings are both pretty flat, pretty similar swings.
So, you know, we get pitched pretty similar. So that helps.
How nice is it to have Alex in the postseason with the success that he's had as a manager?
Yeah, I was going to ask which Alex.
Cora. Cora.
Yeah, you know, Alex's communication's been great. It's my fourth year here, and he's treated me with so much respect, and he's been so straightforward with me ever since the very beginning of the first spring training in 22, so... I have a great relationship with AC and I owe a lot to him as a manager and just as a human. He's been great to me.
But yeah, we're going to get started here in probably 30 minutes. So I'm sure he's going to have his AC-ums. So I'm looking forward to it.
Any favorite AC-ums?
Probably not for the cameras, but he'll just be bouncing around with good energy and His energy is always very consistent, so it's great having him as my manager. Like I said, his communications, it's on point. It's really good.
