Chapter 1: What insights did Bradfo gain from the MLB Awards red carpet?
App BB isn't boring. App BB isn't boring. It's been a wild week. It's been a fun week. It's been a good week at the GM meetings. Boots on the ground. Baseball's in boring. Boots on the ground, of course. Go check out all the interviews. I feel like some of the good stuff even gets lost, but we're going to keep surfacing and talking about it. It is just the t-shirt gun launching into the...
offseason obviously and this was sort of the culmination of it it was a little bit different this time around at the gm meetings usually just ends with a thud on wednesday but major league baseball wanted to make it a little bit different with the mlb awards happening on thursday night which i obviously stuck around for and i'm glad i did because they had a red carpet event
And, you know, why wouldn't you stick around for a red carpet event? I did my best E! Entertainment impersonation sitting outside the velvet rope as these guys came back. But it was a really, really useful exercise. And this is sort of how I want to introduce the podcast today. Obviously, you probably know about the MLB Awards.
You probably know about all the awards, including, by the way, the MVP was actually announced. Cal Raleigh did not win. He just walked by me in the airport, but he did not win. He came up just short with Aaron Judge, let the debate rage on. I did not have a vote for the American League MVP.
I did have a vote for the American League Cy Young, which I haven't talked about on the podcast, or maybe I'll break it down, break down all the awards. I voted for Tarek Skubal. Slightly over Garrett Crochet. Let the discussion begin. Let the debate begin. So be it. I'm all for it because that's what makes these awards great. That's what makes the Hall of Fame discussion great.
That's what makes baseball great. Really, you have these sort of discussions. You have these debates. It's not just cut and dry. And this was another case of that with the MVP obvious award. But, you know, speaking of Scooble, he is one of the guys that I did talk to. Right. And so, and you can hear in the background, yes, we are at the airport.
Final boarding call for Porter Airlines in case anyone's listening. But I wanted to make sure that I got this podcast to you because I had a lot of great interviews today. Like I said, in school, we'll be in one of them. So I'm going to play these for you. And we have first off, we have a couple of the Mets. And obviously, the Mets guys are always in the news.
We always try and stay on top of all the Mets news. In this case, we talked to both Edwin Diaz, who obviously is now a free agent. and Juan Soto, who reflected on being a free agent this time last year, was a be-all, end-all in that conversation. So that's where I want to start off. I'm going to give you Edwin Diaz and then Juan Soto. Then we're going to get into some other guys.
PCA, Pete Crow Armstrong, one of my favorite players, one of my favorite guys to talk to, Tarek Skubal. Like I said, he came around. We talked to him. I don't think anyone's talked to him really since all these rumors had started. So that's exactly what we did. And then we also talked to a guy who had a rough time of it last year after being traded, Dustin May. He was playing in the...

Chapter 2: How does the MLB Awards influence player negotiations?
Get the strength back was a little bit tough. And then be done a year, came back and pitch, tried to ramp up quick, was a little bit tough early in the season, 24th. But, you know, after I learned my body, learned everything, everything was fine for me.
When you say 50-50 going back to the match, you don't think there's a better chance than 50-50?
I think so. You know, I like the team. I like the organization. You know, they came with the best deal for me. I would enjoy to stay with them. But at the end of the day, I don't know what they are thinking. You know, we got our role. My agency, I want to do the best job. And I just listen to my agent.
How is it to think back to a year ago this time when you were just getting ready to start the whole free agency thing and the fact that you will never again in your life, at least for the next 14 years, have to go through anything like that?
it's it's crazy to think about that way uh definitely like these days last year when we're having a lot of headaches going back and forth uh definitely it was a fun time it was a fun time uh once maybe once in a lifetime thing for me uh i enjoyed the time i enjoyed the moment
Do you like watching, are you curious about watching the hot stove season now, like watching what happens with off-season moving? Or are you like, I want to go home and not think about the business of baseball?
Definitely you want to see where some of the guys are going to land. You know, guys that... For my players that I play with, you know, that I wish them the best and see how they handle the teams and how they go about the business. Definitely you want to know how everything goes. But mostly I'm focusing on myself, focusing on my team and, you know, try to add as much as you can.
What did you think about finishing third in the MVP and just Ohtani winning again? I mean, it's great. I'm really happy to be top three again in the season. Definitely we worked hard, fell off shore as a team, but at least something that we can take from 2025. David Sturge was here and mentioned that you talked to a lot of guys about defense next season, how important that's going to be in guys.
There's more in there for you defensively, right? What kind of commitment is that going into the next season? Do you think? For me, I always try to be better. I always try to be better. I'm open to listen, to work, to do anything to help my team. So I think that's a great way to put it and a great way to start following that path. How close are you to the mind of the teams?

Chapter 3: How do Edwin Diaz and Juan Soto reflect on their free agency experiences?
At the end of the day, it's free aging. I hope nothing but the best. But, you know, really excited to see what's going to end up.
How would you describe his offensive impact?
I mean, he's top of the league with his power. He's one of the best. He's not the best. He's one of the best power hitters in this generation. I really enjoyed my moment with him in the Mets uniform. And I hope we can have more times to come.
We can have fun together. I know that you and Antoine are close. What was your reaction to the news?
It was really sad. It was really sad. But we've got to understand it's the business. It's still the business of the game. And we've just got to take it like a man. Do you think we're going to have to start pitching if we want to beat Otani next year? No, I don't think so. I don't think so. I think we've just got to play better. We've just got to play better.
Marty's, uh, Starlin, Marty's creation. Somebody, you talked about Beauty Blue and that clubhouse thing. Have you mentioned to David what Marte meant to the team and the possibility of bringing him back? I haven't talked to him, but definitely he knows what Marte brings to the table. I think he's the guy who any team wants to have in his clubhouse. A guy that you want to have around.
A guy that is a veteran that still can play. The most important thing, he can help to keep our clubhouse together and try to move forward every time and You know, you need a guy that helps you the most through those tough times and try to bring the team back to where it's supposed to be.
So I think it's a huge piece for us, even if it doesn't seem and look like it, but I feel like that's one of the biggest pieces that we should get. You guys good? Thank you so much.
All right, some newsworthy items there. Now I want to get to PCA, Pete Crowe, Armstrong, the Cubs. He had the breakout year this year, and of course,
