Hey, welcome back. If you're new here, I want to start by saying that this isn't a podcast where I'm gonna sit here and tell you that I'm a certified human design analyst with all the answers, perfectly figured out and ready to explain your entire life to you. I'm not. I'm a projector, figuring a lot of this out in real time, exploring human design through my own experiences, paying attention to the patterns I notice in myself and in the people around me, and sharing what I learn as I continue learning. I think that's actually one of the reasons I love having these conversations here, because human design can give us a completely different language for understanding ourselves. Sometimes it puts words to things that we have felt for years but could never really explain.

Sometimes it helps us understand why something that works beautifully for one person can feel completely exhausting or unnatural for someone else. Today's episode came out of something that's been sitting with me for a while, and that is the question of purpose. Not purpose in the vague Instagram caption sense of find your purpose, where it can sometimes sound as if there is one perfect answer somewhere out there, and your job is simply to discover it. I mean purpose in a much more specific and in my opinion much more interesting way, through the lens of human design and the different ways each type is naturally designed to move through life. Because here's the thing I didn't understand for a long time.
Vicky Nedelcheva 1:49
Purpose isn't one universal formula. It's not simply follow your passion for everyone. It's not just be yourself for everyone. Especially when many of us don't even know what being ourselves is supposed to look like after years of conditioning and trying to meet other people's expectations. It's not about everyone working harder, becoming more confident, taking more action, or finding one perfect career that defines the rest of their life. Each type is wired to access purpose through a completely different door. And once I started looking at it that way, so much of my own experience started to make more sense, especially my own bitterness about not doing more and not being able to measure my life through the same standards of productivity that seemed to work for other people.

For a long time, I thought that if I could just become more productive, more disciplined, more consistent, or somehow more capable of keeping up, then eventually I would feel successful and fulfilled. But the more I explored human design, the more I started to understand that perhaps the problem wasn't that I wasn't doing enough. Perhaps I had simply been trying to access purpose through a door that wasn't designed for me. And I think that is something so many of us do without even realizing it. We look at what works for other people and assume that if we try hard enough, their formula should eventually work for us too. But human design offers a different perspective. It suggests that the way we find meaning, fulfillment, direction, and even purpose can be deeply connected to the way our individual energy is designed to interact with life.

How do Generators discover purpose through bodily joy and satisfaction?

Vicky Nedelcheva 3:13
So let's walk through all five types and explore the different ways purpose can reveal itself. And stay with me, even when we're talking about types that aren't yours, because understanding the other types can be just as valuable as understanding your own. I genuinely believe that you'll recognize someone you love, someone you work with, or someone who has always felt completely different from you in at least one of these descriptions. And sometimes understanding those differences can change the way we understand not only ourselves, but also the people around us.
