You walk into a meditation room expecting to feel calmer. You sit down, close your eyes, take a deep breath, and somehow you leave feeling more emotional, more sensitive, or even completely drained. Meanwhile, the person sitting next to you says, that was amazing. I feel so peaceful. So what happened? Did you meditate the wrong way? Is something wrong with your ability to relax? Or could it simply be that the same environment affects different people in completely different ways? This is something I find fascinating about human design because when we start looking at the solar plexus, the emotional center in human design, we get another perspective on why some people may feel deeply supported by collective energy, while others may feel more comfortable creating space to process their own emotions.
Vicky Nedelcheva 1:23
And this isn't about saying that group meditation is good for some people. And bad for others. For many people, meditating together can create connection, calm, and a powerful sense of shared presence. For others, being surrounded by other people's energy and emotions may feel distracting or overwhelming. In today's episode, we're going to explore meditation. Emotional sensitivity. and the human design solar plexus, and why understanding your own energy may help you create a meditation practice that actually feels right for you. So Real quick, without getting too technical in human design, the solar plexus is what we call the emotional center. It's one of the places in the chart connected with emotional awareness, sensitivity, and the emotional waves that move through us.
Vicky Nedelcheva 2:17
And when we talk about an emotional wave, we're not necessarily talking about being happy one moment and sad the next. It's more about the natural The moments when everything feels intense, and the moments when things become calmer and clearer. But here's the interesting part. Not everyone experiences this emotional energy in the same way. If you have a defined solar plexus, human design describes you as having your own consistent emotional wave. In other words, emotional energy is something you generate within yourself. Your mood and emotional state can naturally move up and down according to your own rhythm. And that wave doesn't necessarily disappear just because you're alone, or change simply because you walk into a room full of people.
Vicky Nedelcheva 3:12
You still have your own emotional process happening internally. This is why someone with a defined solar plexus might say, I don't actually know how I feel about this yet. I need some time. They may experience an emotional high where everything feels exciting and clear, followed later by a low, where the exact same situation feels completely different. From a human design perspective, emotional clarity isn't necessarily about making. An immediate decision at the peak of an emotion. It's about allowing the wave to move and seeing what remains once the intensity settles. Now, if you have an undefined or open solar plexus, human design describes the experience differently. Rather than having a consistent emotional wave of your own, you may be more receptive to the emotional energy of the people around you.

And this is where group environments can become particularly interesting. Imagine walking into a room where someone is anxious, someone else is excited, another person is frustrated, and someone else is incredibly calm. You may not consciously notice any of this. You might simply start feeling different yourself. You could walk into the room feeling completely fine and 20 minutes later suddenly feel tense, emotional. Irritated or overwhelmed without really knowing why.
