Beach Travel Wine Podcast

15. Oviedo, Asturias, Spain. This area of Spain is so different you think you are in another country. Mountains, lakes, beach, history, music, cider - and so much more.

10 Aug 2022

Description

Oviedo is the capital of Asturias in north western Spain.   In this podcast you will hear why we chose to stay in Oviedo (and why you should too).    We wander the incredible old town and we explore the park that used to be a convent's apple orchard.    We take an incredible, and I mean incredible, day trip to the village of Cangas de Onis, the Covadonga Lakes in the Picos de Europa National Park and then we take you to the stunning Basilica of Covadonga which looks like it is in another country.   Listen as we tell you all about the local food and the tradition of pouring sidra (cider).   On our last day we share the uphill hike to the 8th century churches and then listen as we enjoy a local La Tuna band (no they are not fish).    Oviedo is a total surprise package and is completely different to any other part of Spain.  Read the accompanying blog (show notes) and see all the pics that go with this episode here.
