Chapter 1: What is the main topic discussed in this episode?
Well, howdy there, Internet people. It's Belle again. So today, we're going to talk about Trump being contradicted by his own team over January 6th. Trump took to social media to make some bold claims.
Chapter 2: What claims did Trump make about January 6th and the FBI?
Claims that will absolutely be echoed and spawn a host of wild theories, even though he received pushback, even from Kash Patel. Trump's Grandpa Simpson moment led to him posting, quote, It was just revealed that the FBI had secretly placed against all rules, regulations, protocols, and standards 274 FBI agents into the crowd just prior to and during the January 6th hoax.
This is different from what Director Christopher Wray stated over and over again. That's right. As it now turns out, FBI agents were at and in the January 6th protest, probably acting as agitators and insurrectionists, but certainly not as law enforcement officials. I want to know who each and every one of these so-called agents are and what they were up to on that now historic day.
Many great American patriots were made to pay a very big price, only for the love of their country. I owe this investigation of dirty cops and crooked politicians to them. Christopher Wray, the then director of the FBI, has some major explaining to do. That's two in a row, Comey and Wray, who got caught lying, with our great country at stake. We can never let this happen to America again.
Patel went on Fox News to say, quote, agents were sent into a crowd control mission after the riot was declared by Metro Police. He went on to say that the deployment was against protocol. A quick glance at the standard way deployments are done tell us that there were definitely some straying from the norm, but nothing like what Trump was suggesting.
Other officials told the press that Trump's claims were not accurate and that the 274 agents weren't even all at the Capitol, but that the number included all agents responding, including to the RNC and DNC. DOJ Inspector General Michael Horowitz released a report that said, quote,
We found no evidence in the materials we reviewed or the testimony we received showing or suggesting that the FBI had undercover employees in the various protest crowds or at the Capitol on January 6th.
After looking at some of the reporting that was circulating about this, it seems like Trump might have some major confusion about the difference between FBI agents showing up after the riot had been declared in plain clothes and agents working undercover.
Those things aren't the same. They're not even close. And that seems like where all of the confusion arose. Once the confusion set in, the wild claims came.
I think we can expect this to become a story as the claims make it through the information ecosystem and Trump tries to manage the fallout. Anyway, it's just a thought. Y'all have a good day.
