Welcome to the latest episode of Accidental Business Owners. Each episode is a live coaching session with our business coach, Dai Foster, where we talk through the raw realities of running a business. In this episode, we talk about our team meeting we had up in Auckland with all eight of us, where we reviewed our product and what we learned from it.

Enjoy. Hey, boys. Hey, Di. Good morning, Di. It's afternoon. It is. Sorry.
It was a frosty morning this morning. I came from Rotorua, not Hamilton.
Yeah.
She was cold.
Do you have to de-ice your windows?
I did this morning. Yeah. And I went to the gym, and then I had to de-ice them again. I heard you went to the gym, actually. A few people have been talking about that. I think when we start the episode with weather chat, there's only one way to go. Yeah.
On that note, we all good?
Yeah. Yeah, pretty good. Pretty good.
Excellent. Okay, let's just get straight into it. Last week, what happened?
We had a team meeting. First time.
Not just a team meeting.
It was a product meeting.
Thank you. You're welcome. A product team meeting.
Product team meeting. Well, when we left last time, we teased the fact that we should get the group together. And then we went ahead and did that.
Amazing.
You know what? I caught myself thinking, because it was the first time there was eight of us in the room.
That are all involved in the product.
Yeah. And I was like, how? Because, you know, up until then, we had communicated with eight people sort of individually. We're getting them in the space. Like, holy shit, this podcast has a team of eight? There's eight people involved in this?
Yeah.
Did you have that moment?
A little bit, yeah. I actually felt the room, we probably needed a bigger room. We needed a bigger room. But also, shout out to One New Zealand for hosting us. That was awesome. Yeah, the room was quite, I was going to say intimate. It was very intimate. And can I say something too? I think we need better snacks next time.
Yeah.
If I'm going to call out a couple of things early on to set the scene.
Yeah.
But the Goody Goody Gumdrops chocolate was good. The one bar between eights.
Yeah, that was a terrible choice of snacks.
What prompted the team to run a full product audit of the podcast?
And I didn't have any, just for the record. Just in case my halo slips at any other point today. I didn't have any goody-goody gumdrops ice cream.
For those listening who wonder why you need eight people in a podcast operation, there was me and Shay. There was Shah, who's our commercial and partnerships lead. There was sexy cameraman Sam, who does our filming in Hamilton.
Very quiet he was too.
Adam, you'll hear from Sam in a bit. We had Adam Pomana, who's our editor, who edits all of our shows. And we had two from marketing, from Via Digital, Marcus and Mitch, and Dai facilitating slash coaching. So, you know, there's like that room quickly gets filled up with people that, yeah, make the magic.
Make the magic. Key takeaways from the day?
one it was like Stephen said it was great to physically get everybody in the room together I think we've in the past had kind of individual catch ups or virtual catch ups to actually sit in a space and do that was cool and to hear people talk about their areas of the operation like in great depth was really interesting too particularly from a platform perspective I found really interesting really interesting
I saw there was a fundamental shift from walking into the meeting to walking out. Up until now, we had been a audio-first podcast. So audio-first, the audio version of the podcast is where our biggest audience is. Other parts of the operation kind of came secondary to that. That included YouTube, that includes socials, that includes the clips and the reels that we cut across, that go across all different platforms.
They were all kind of pushing towards that audio podcast, weren't they?
