What is the main topic discussed in this episode?
Welcome to the latest episode of Ambassadors.
Our show that takes you behind the scenes of the Between Two Bears podcast. How are we doing today, Shay? My calves have gone again.
Oh no.
Remember how I had the issue in North America?
Yeah.
I was yeah, I was concerned for you. Yeah. In the last twenty four, forty eight hours, yeah, the calves have gone again. What's caused this? Walking. Which is a concern. Yeah. Um and I've been hobbling around today. And I've been masking maybe my mood's been a little bit off 'cause I've been masking the pain. It's been a bit up and down, I'll be honest. Yep. Yeah. Get that way sometimes.
What health challenges has Israel Dagg been dealing with since his last episode?
Uh these recordings have been up and down. Yeah. Have you been stretching? No, you know me. I don't stretch. I haven't done anything. I actually went back to the gym for the first time in eight weeks. I saw you in yesterday. Yeah. And it was welcome back. It was welcome back. But um I don't know if that's got anything to do with it. Maybe I should just Maybe rest up for a little bit. Just retire just retire from moving. Pop them pins up. Uh the last time we were in here, Steve, you were battling a concussion. Yeah. And Maybe we took it a little bit too lightly. Yeah. Because you were really struggling to make
any sense. That was quite an interesting uh period of time for me because I didn't consider that the book that had fallen on my head the previous night from my five year old had actually given me a concussion. I was kind of saying it in jest, but then when I started trying to find my words or think about what I was saying, I just couldn't Do it. Yeah. And we work that out live in a recording. And it was a train crash of a record. But neither patching together it's been put together. Shah listened to it and said actually, you know, it didn't reflect what an absolute shambles that episode was. And that's the magic of editing. It is. But uh I did lose my weight for a little bit. I think I genuinely had a concussion.
I think you genuinely did. And it it rolled over to the next day 'cause we traveled down to Napier to host a Four Square conference, second time uh in our history. We got we got invited back after doing a good job. And I but I was worried. I was worried that maybe you weren't gonna be able to step up to the plate. But we got through the first day that we got there. We had rehearsals We had rehearsals?
What I'll say about that is when I was in that recording. Yeah. And your brain isn't quite working the way it used to, it it's a little bit scary, a little bit off putting. Mm. Because I would be normally when I'm halfway through a sentence, I kinda know where I'm going and the next thing I want to say. But I was getting there and then just nothing. Nothing. And I was just there was no no ending.
Yeah.
And I was thinking 'cause we had a big day on stage. MCing a full day and a awards evening. Yeah. And I a part of me was thinking, hmm, lucky there's two of us.
Yeah. Oh, that is the that is the power of two. Umopsie basics. Just throwing that pen around. Actually on pens, I um I got my lucky Waitomel pen back, which I had thought I'd lost. And I've misplaced a few things recently, actually. I just found two hundred dollars worth of petrol vouchers in my wallet that I thought I'd thrown out um over Christmas time. So There's a nice little sig. Um yeah, just k just just turning into old age. Anyway, arrived in Napier and A real highlight for me sometimes is trying to I don't know, embarrass you or play on your diva status in a playful way. So when we checked into the Masonic Hotel, I sort of as a throwaway line said, I hope you've given him the room with the bath and sure enough, the hotel manager was like, Actually I I have, I've given you the room with the bath.
Which was a amazing surprise and delight for you.
Yeah, that was cool. He was uh fan of the show. Graham Wolf. Yes. Who works the Masonic and uh he said, I listen to the show. I know that you like the bath. I know you guys are. Uh so I've given you a room with a bath. I love that. And there was a little note on the bed that said, um, enjoy the bath with a little smiley
