نحن نوضح قراءاتنا من سفر المكابيين الأول اليوم الذي يغطي بداية حكم الرومان على الشعب اليهودي. بالإضافة إلى ذلك، نحن نبرز الحكمة المستمدة من سفر سيراخ حول أهمية أن نحاط بأنفسنا بتأثيرات تقربنا من الله وتساعدنا على النمو في القداسة. القراءات اليوم هي: ١ مكابيين ٨، سيراخ ٢٢-٢٣، وأمثال ٢٢:٢٦-٢٩. We contextualize our readings from 1 Maccabees today which covers the beginning of Roman rule over the Jewish people. Additionally, we emphasize the wisdom from Sirach about surrounding ourselves with influences that lead us closer to God and help us grow in holiness. Today’s readings are 1 Maccabees 8, Sirach 22-23, and Proverbs 22:26-29. I am reading using the Arabic Jesuit Catholic version from Holy Bible App which can be accessed on the app/website. You can also listen to the Bible in a Year podcast in English with Fr Mike Schmitz who did an amazing job. I am using lot of his comments in my reflection as well commentary from different trustworthy resources.
