How to Teach Kids Truths from the Daniel Fast

11 Nov 2020

Description

Want a fun way to teach Bible lessons for kids? Help kids learn more about Jesus and strengthen their faith with these 5 lessons for children from the Daniel Fast. Just like with adults, kids need to learn about Jesus and to strengthen their faith even at a young age.  But the question is, how can you make Bible lessons for kids engaging, fun, and interesting? How can Sunday school lessons for children be easy to understand for a toddler or your young children? Here are 5 things that you can do to share faith, let kids feel the love of Jesus, and eventually develop more physical and spiritual discipline in their lives. These steps use the Daniel fast, which makes it easier for children to understand these truths once you share it with them. Share the Story of Biblical Figures During Their Youth As a youth, Daniel was taken from his family and brought into the King's court. Although still a young person, the foundation of his belief had already been planted. That's a key factor.  Then think about Esther. She, too, was brought as a young person into the King's court and those biblical foundations that were taught to her as a young person, as a child were foundational to what happened next.  Now, think about your children as they grow up and when they get into a situation with their work and there's peer pressure, there's demanding pressures to get a job done to to do a business that is very taxing on them physically and spiritually. If only they had something they could hang on to, something that they could think back to how to get through the situation.  Five Steps to Teach Bible Lessons for Kids Using the Daniel Fast 1. Pick a story you want your children to understand about this fast.  It might be Esther fast or the Daniel fast. And now the day of your fast that I'm going to be referring to is the 21 day vegetable fast. I have a book about the Daniel fast https://thebiblicalnutritionist.com/p...  and you can check that out and get some ideas, recipes, devotionals, weekly, daily encouragement, shopping guide, all of that. It's all put together for you.  Read the stories of Daniel or Esther out loud. Both the Daniel fast and the Esther story are just really good. Bedtime stories are good family time stories for you to read with your children.  2. Dramatize the story.  Take the Daniel story, take the Esther story and have them act out. Now it's always better with costumes. You've got to have the costumes and you've got to have the script that's already written in God's word. So act out these stories. Have everyone in the family become part of it.  3. Become the characters of the story today.  Now what I mean by this is first we read this story, then we acted it out on that day. In time we want to take on the characteristics of those people in the story in today's time. So in other words, we want to become Daniel in today's time. We want to become Esther in today's time. And then talk through your children. What would that mean? What if your children are dealing with issues at school? What if they're dealing with issues at church? What if they're dealing with issues?Talk about the issues that they're dealing with today and how can they envision that Daniel or Esther might have applied what they did in their time to today? 4. Apply what they have learned. What you would do is have your own Olympic games. Now this is fun, and when I work with different families and help them through a time of fasting in a time of changing their health and transforming their health, we always start with a seven day fast and then we move into a 21 day, Daniel fast time.  Create your own Olympic event time. Everybody scores everybody. These are our games and these are the scores that everyone got in the games. Now there is no winner or losers. It's all about the times. How fast did you run that? How quickly? How many pushups did you do? How many sit ups did you do? How many pull ups did you do? All of this is happening because they followed the Daniel fast.  5. Make it a discovery in the kitchen.  Let the kids go with you to the grocery store. Pick out totally new vegetables and fruits that they've never tried before.  Share faith, love, spiritual and physical discipline with your children by trying out these Bible lessons for kids that are not just fun but meaningful as well!
