I read it a year ago and I found it interesting that it had sold more than 10 million copies in the United States, but practically no one knows it in Latin America.
And the book is not religious, it is not a book, let's say, that is very Christian and therefore the Catholic average culture of Latin America shocks it. It's a book that has nothing to do with religion as such. It's a fantasy novel that tries to answer basic questions about the meaning of life. It seems to me that the author did it in a very unique way. The story is about a man who eventually reaches heaven and there are five people who each give him a message about his life. So I hope you like this summary below. Okay, so this story is very interesting. It starts with an 83-year-old man named Eddie. who works in a amusement park. A very old man, but who works in part out of necessity. It shows that he is not very satisfied with his job, but he is proud that he has been working for years and years in a dock, in this amusement park that is called the Ruby Dock.
And he has never had any accidents. But on this particular day, one of those attractions gets damaged. And when several elements of the attraction begin to fall, he sees that there is a five-year-old girl who is going to be crushed. He pushes her to save her and doesn't remember anything else. And at that moment, of course, one understands that he dies and passes on to this world outside of the earth where he is going to meet the five people who are going to explain to him about life. So Eddie is in the sky and realizes that the sky looks like Ruby's dock where he worked, but now it is the version of his childhood. This attraction park was extremely old and he remembers going to that park when he was young and that is the version in which he finds himself.
And there appears to him a man of blue skin. Eddie had forgotten about that man, but remember that when he was young and he was going to the amusement park, they sold this circus phenomenon, which was a man with this blue skin that people paid to be able to see. The blue man explains to Eddie that he is here in heaven and that he is going to get different worlds with different people, five people specifically, who are going to explain to him critical moments of his life, important moments, to give meaning to the purpose of the same. And when Eddie is understanding this, it seems strange to him that the blue man is the first person he meets, because what impact did this blue man have on his life?
