214: Manuka Honey and how we get sick - with Joyce Dales
26 Jan 2023
Joyce Dale grew up in rural Maine, where her grandmother ran a country store, and home remedies were part of everyday life. Honey was a key component in her grandmother's remedies, and it was something that Joyce held on to as she grew older. After her loved one was hospitalized with a life-threatening MRSA infection, Joyce began to research honey as a potential solution. Through her research she discovered Manuka Honey, an antimicrobial honey that could be effective against bacteria, fungus, and viruses, even those antibiotic-resistant. She also learned that the nasal passages have their own biome, full of beneficial bacteria and that this biome is critical to the immune system's ability to trap and prevent infection. With this knowledge, Joyce developed "Cold Bee Gone", a nasal swab with a blend of super honey designed to enhance the nasal immune system and protect against infection. Joyce believes that by following a few simple steps, such as avoiding touching your face, taking high-quality probiotics, and avoiding products with chemicals, alcohol, or saline, you can help keep your nasal biome in top fighting form. What is the Booger Biome? The Booger Biome is the collection of beneficial bacteria that live in the nose and help to trap and prevent pathogens from entering the body. This biome consists primarily of lactobacillus probiotics and is essential for maintaining a healthy nasal environment. By maintaining the right pH, moisture, and saline level, and avoiding products that contain chemicals, alcohol, or saline, the nasal biome can be kept in top fighting form. How do people get sick? Joyce Dales believes that people get sick from touching their face, not washing their hands when they enter the house, being exposed to toxic environments, and having a compromised nasal biome due to the use of nasal sprays or saline sprays with alcohol or sodium benzoate. She also recommends avoiding products with chemicals, alcohol, or saline, and taking high-quality probiotics that help rebuild the nasal biome. She suggests using a nasal swab with a super honey blend 2-3 times a week to help keep the nasal biome in top fighting form and to maintain the right humidity in the home to prevent dryness and bloody noses. Manuka Honey and its antimicrobial effects Joyce Dales speaks highly of Manuka Honey, noting that it has the unique ability to be antimicrobial without destroying beneficial flora and that it can be used to remove pathogens from wounds, and even to help fight antibiotic-resistant bacteria. She also notes that Manuka Honey can be used to help support the nasal biome, which is the first line of defense against viruses and other pathogens. She recommends using it to boost the nasal immune system and to help prevent colonization. In this podcast, you will learn about What are some ways to protect the booger biome? What are the benefits of Manuka honey? How to get your Nasal Biome optimized What are viruses and how do viruses colonize in the nose? And so much more.
