Uh Bateman called up because Luis Orias has gone on. the uh injured list after uh I didn't even know what he's on the injured list with. Um oh or right quad string. I mean it's one of those days. The Jays designated a guy for Simon. I didn't even know he was in the organization, so I mean that's Rudy Martin Junior. I know Rudy Martin Senior, but I don't know who Rudy. No, you do. Just kidding about that. Um any surprise that lineup.
My first reaction is Kirk second, Sanchez third. Again now it is against Zach Wheeler and John's going left, right, left, right, right, left, right, left, left.
Uh, you I think that has a little something to do with it. I think John's doing a little bit of throwing it against the wall too. You know, uh Kirky right now is their best hitter. He's their hottest hitter. His bat speeds went up uh here lately. You know, we did when we have John on, we did ask about that. He he gave a really good answer for for why that is. Uh yeah, look, I just think John's trying to get as many of the best hitters that he's got up there as many times as possible against one of the best pitchers. In the sport in Zach Wheeler. That's kind of where we're at. With the power and finesse that that guy's got, it's very hard just to go up there and swing at everything. And I think that's what John's trying to do is, you know, get that lefty righty where Zach has to command both sides of the plate with different secondary pitches.
Use the split finger a little bit more. Nobody's hitting that thing. You know, maybe you get a righty that he can't throw that to. He's throwing it to the top. Like there's you know reasons why you're just trying to force a really good pitcher into using both sides of the plate with different speeds. That's that's basically all you're doing. And you're hoping and praying that maybe he throws one right down the middle that one of your hitters is looking for after he walks somebody.
