Behind The Deal is a new podcast series from BlitzBusiness focusing on the intricacies of venture capital. Sanjeev has spent three decades in the Indian technology sector. He has been an entrepreneur and is a venture capitalist. He was the founder and CEO of Daksh, a pioneer in the BPO sector and led the company till June 2006, scaling it over 20,000 employees. Daksh was acquired by IBM in 2004. He was chosen “Ernst & Young Entrepreneur of the Year” in 2002. Sanjeev co-founded two venture capital firms: Helion Ventures and Fundamentum and has participated in both waves of investing - Start up and Scale up. He co-founded Helion Ventures in 2006, participating in the ‘startup’ investing phase. It has $600M under management with over 70 investments in early-stage technology companies. Sanjeev is on the board of market-leading companies - Livspace, Axtria, UnitedLex, Amba (Moody’s). He is an active participant in building of 3 Unicorns - MakeMyTrip, BigBasket and Azure. He co-founded Fundamentum in 2017 with Nandan Nilekani. Fundamentum is a ‘scale-up’ platform committed to help build enduring technology companies out of India. It leads investment rounds from $10-25M in companies, and has made its initial investments in PharmEasy, Spinny and FarEye. He was awarded “Venture Capital Professional of the Year” for Asia region by AVCJ in 2012. Sanjeev co-authored a book: “From Pony to Unicorn: Scaling a Start-Up Sustainably” in 2020. It describes the X-to-10X journey and narrates the fundamental principles behind scaling and various levers of organization-building. The book is derived from the authors' personal experiences in both building and guiding several startups that went on to attain the 'unicorn' status and became public-listed companies. The book also has some real-life examples, insights and experiences of Indian entrepreneurs. Behind The Deal Hosts Ashish Airon is the co-founder of CogniTensor, an enterprise AI Technology provider and was recently awarded Forbes30U30 2020 Asia for his contribution in enterprise technology. He is also a mentor at 500 startup, a silicon valley based VC firm with over 3000+ investments. Vishnupriya Rajgarhia is a learn-it-all. Presently Visiting Faculty at Ashoka University, and a Strategy Consultant at 9dot9 group. She was selected as the only South Asian Research Fellow to represent the British Pavilion at the 58th Venice Biennale 2020.
