Apeksha Jain, ex-French-teacher and Food Blogger-turned-entrepreneur, is the Founder of The Gourmet Jar, a brand of premium and innovative condiments that are completely natural and preservative-free. Apeksha is an Economics graduate from Lady Shriram College, Delhi and has no formal training in cooking or making preserves. She is a self-taught confiturier who’s passion for cooking is guided by her instinct and a husband that loves food! The inspiration for her business came when Apeksha discovered the world of artisanal preserves & condiments during her one year stay in Paris. The banana jam was something she first tasted at a small orchard in Burgundy, and it was love at first bite. Apeksha was conferred an award for being an “Exceptional Woman of Excellence” by the Women Economic Forum, Delhi in 2017. Apart from experimenting in the kitchen, Apeksha loves traveling and exploring new countries and cultures, learning new languages and kickboxing. The Gourmet Jar was started by Apeksha from her home kitchen in 2012, moved into a 1000 sq ft production unit in 2015, and now runs from a 12000 sq ft facility in Noida with a team of 50 people, of which 80% are women. The Gourmet Jar offers a range of premium condiments (preserves, honey, mustard, sauces, and savoury spreads) in unique flavour combinations, that are handmade in small batches, from scratch, using all-natural ingredients and no preservatives or additives. Made with 100% pure ingredients, and much love and care, TGJ products are fresh & full of flavour. The Gourmet Jar is currently available in most Modern Retail stores and select specialty stores in India, and supplies to more than 30 five-star hotels across the country. TGJ’s Orange Marmalade won a bronze medal in the artisanal category at the World Marmalade Awards in UK in 2015.
