News When You Want It with Bloomberg News Now. I'm Doug Krisner. An armed man was shot and killed after entering a secured area at President Trump's Mar-a-Lago estate. Authorities say the man was carrying a gas can and a shotgun when he was confronted by a sheriff's deputy and two Secret Service agents. Here is Palm Beach County Sheriff Rick Bradshaw.
He was ordered to drop those two pieces of equipment that he had with him, at which time he put down the gas can, raised the shotgun to a shooting position. At that point in time, the deputy and the two Secret Service agents fired their weapons.
Now, President Trump was in Washington, D.C. at the time of this incident. More than 35 million people across the Northeast, that would include New York City, are under a blizzard warning. A massive winter storm is threatening snow by the foot and wind gust of nearly 50 miles an hour. Here is Bloomberg meteorologist Rob Carolin.
Winter storm system developing east of the coast of Virginia responsible for the blizzard warnings that are in effect from the Delmarva Peninsula to eastern New England. The storm system is expected to deepen rapidly over the next 24 to 36 hours, bringing moderate to heavy snow to portions of the northeast and southern New England. There could be some areas in southeastern Massachusetts that see in excess of 20 inches of snowfall, the Boston area 12 to 18 inches, New York City 10 to 16 inches. I'm Rob Carolyn, Bloomberg Radio.
In New York City, Mayor Zoran Mamdani issued a travel ban closing streets, highways, and bridges to most traffic from 9 p.m. Sunday. By the way, New York City public schools will be closed on Monday. Markets in Asia are reacting to the Supreme Court striking down President Trump's use of emergency powers to impose tariffs. The president responded to the defeat by using other powers to impose a global tariff of 15%. However, these tariffs are limited to 150 days. At the same time, the Trump administration said trade deals made with China, the EU, Japan, and South Korea do remain in place. Here is U.S. Trade Rep. Jameson Greer on CBS Face the Nation.
