News When You Want It with Bloomberg News Now. I'm Doug Krisner. An armed man was shot and killed after entering a secured area at President Trump's Mar-a-Lago estate. Authorities say the man was carrying a gas can and a shotgun when he was confronted by a sheriff's deputy and two Secret Service agents. Here is Palm Beach County Sheriff Rick Bradshaw.

He was ordered to drop those two pieces of equipment that he had with him, at which time he put down the gas can, raised the shotgun to a shooting position. At that point in time, the deputy and the two Secret Service agents fired their weapons.

Now, President Trump was in Washington, D.C. at the time of this incident. More than 35 million people across the Northeast, that would include New York City, are under a blizzard warning. A massive winter storm is threatening snow by the foot and wind gust of nearly 50 miles an hour. Here is Bloomberg meteorologist Rob Carolin.

Winter storm system developing east of the coast of Virginia responsible for the blizzard warnings that are in effect from the Delmarva Peninsula to eastern New England. The storm system is expected to deepen rapidly over the next 24 to 36 hours, bringing moderate to heavy snow to portions of the northeast and southern New England.

There could be some areas in southeastern Massachusetts that see in excess of 20 inches of snowfall, the Boston area 12 to 18 inches, New York City 10 to 16 inches. I'm Rob Carolyn, Bloomberg Radio.

In New York City, Mayor Zoran Mamdani issued a travel ban closing streets, highways, and bridges to most traffic from 9 p.m. Sunday. By the way, New York City public schools will be closed on Monday. Markets in Asia are reacting to the Supreme Court striking down President Trump's use of emergency powers to impose tariffs.

137.714 - 159.958 Doug Krisner

The president responded to the defeat by using other powers to impose a global tariff of 15%. However, these tariffs are limited to 150 days. At the same time, the Trump administration said trade deals made with China, the EU, Japan, and South Korea do remain in place. Here is U.S. Trade Rep. Jameson Greer on CBS Face the Nation.

160.023 - 165.452 Jameson Greer

These deals are going to be good deals. We expect to stand by them. We expect our partners to stand by them.

And I haven't heard anyone yet come to me and say, the deal's off. They want to see how this plays out. I'm in active conversation with them on it.

That is U.S. Trade Rep. Jameson Greer speaking on CBS Face the Nation. He went on to say the U.S. is going to have tariffs and the president's policy is going to continue. Earlier on Sunday, Europe's trade chief said he'll propose freezing the EU's ratification of a trade deal with the U.S. until the Trump administration clarifies its policy.

At the same time, ECB President Christine Lagarde said President Trump's latest tariff move risks upsetting the previously negotiated equilibrium between the EU and the U.S. Here is Lagarde speaking on CBS Face the Nation.

208.488 - 230.715 Christine Lagarde

It's critically important that all people in the trade, both outside of the United States but also in the United States, have clarity about the future of the relationships. Because it's a bit like driving. You want to know the rules of the road before you get in the car. It's the same with trade.

230.78 - 253.787 Doug Krisner

That is ECB President Christine Lagarde speaking on CBS Face the Nation. The Trump administration has reversed course on airport security check-ins. The TSA will continue to operate the pre-check program. Yesterday, the TSA announced a suspension of that program. However, criticism was swift. By the way, the global entry program will remain paused.

253.807 - 264.74 Doug Krisner

Now, these are the consequences of a partial government shutdown that began last week. Democrats in the White House were unable to reach a deal on legislation to fund the Department of Homeland Security.

265.381 - 276.615 Doug Krisner

Immigration and Customs Enforcement is planning to shrink its detention facility network, and that could mean a hit to private prison operators, as we hear from Bloomberg's Nathan Hager in Washington.

276.713 - 297.439 Nathan Hager

Right now, ICE has detainees in more than 200 facilities, most of them owned by private prison giants like GeoGroup and CoreCivic. But the agency now plans to shift to a network of 34 larger sites, mostly industrial warehouses, all owned by the Department of Homeland Security. The move would be a major expansion of immigrant detention. It could also be a blow to the prison industry.

297.559 - 304.307 Nathan Hager

Both Geo and CoreCivic get close to half their revenue from ICE contracts. In Washington, I'm Nathan Hager, Bloomberg Radio.
