Apple unveiled the next generation of its AI platform, including an update to its Siri digital assistant, part of a bid to catch up with Silicon Valley peers in a critical market. Apple says the new Apple Intelligent System, underpinned by Google technology, will be able to better understand the context of users' requests. Bloomberg's Ed Ludlow says this new standalone Siri app is expected to launch in beta later this year.
