News when you want it with Bloomberg News Now. I'm Karen Moscow. We want to get to President Trump's wide-ranging interview with NBC News. But first, a look at the jobs market this morning. U.S. companies announcing the largest number of job cuts for any January since the depths of the Great Recession in 2009. That's according to data from outplacement firm Challenger Gray and Christmas. It showed companies last month announced 108,435 job cuts. a 118% increase from a year earlier. The report also showed hiring intentions slid 13% from a year earlier to 5,306, marking the weakest total for any January in the firm's records back to 2009. President Trump has given a wide-ranging interview ahead of Super Bowl Sunday.
In the conversation with NBC News, the president said he personally decided to pull 700 federal agents from Minnesota amid the uproar over two American deaths in Minneapolis.

Zelensky told a French TV station that, quote, Putin is only afraid of Trump. He says Trump can exert pressure through sanctions, the economy and with weapons.
