But first, the U.S. says it has completed another round of strikes on Iran. It comes as President Trump reinstates the U.S. blockade of Iranian ships transiting the Strait of Hormuz. He is also demanding a 20 percent reimbursement for all other cargo shipped through the waterway. And the president spoke to reporters yesterday.
We're attacking them tonight. We're taking out all of their capability for anything having to do with the straight, with the hormone straight. And I think in the end, we will end up discontrolling the whole thing.
The U.S. says military forces will resume blockading traffic to and from Iranian ports and coastal areas beginning today at 4 p.m. New York time. And this morning, the United Arab Emirates said two of its oil tankers were hit by Iran while crossing the Strait of Hormuz. It all has oil on the rise once again. Brent oil surging, topping $87 a barrel for the first time in a month. Right now, Brent, it pared back a bit at $86.71. That's still up 4%. NYMEX crude oil is at $80.31. In other news, the late Senator Lindsey Graham's seat will be filled temporarily by his only sister, Darlene Graham Nordone. South Carolina Governor Henry McMaster announced the appointment yesterday.
Lindsey took care of his little sister in years long departed. It's my honor to ask his little sister, Darlene Graham, to finish his work for him now.
And Governor McMaster said the special election to replace Graham on the November ballot will be held August 11th.

Darlene Graham Nordone will be sworn in to serve the rest of her brother's term this afternoon. Immigration and Customs Enforcement is under new scrutiny after a deadly shooting in Maine. It happened yesterday morning in Biddeford, a small city just outside Portland. Homeland Security says agents were conducting surveillance at a suspected deportee's home when someone tried to flee in a car. The agency says an officer opened fire, fearing for public safety. Earlier, they said the person tried to run the agent over, but they did not offer evidence. Democratic Maine Congresswoman Shelley Pingree says a lot of questions still need to be answered.
Was this a criminal they were attempting to pick up? Or was there a profiling situation that went on with the individual? Was there a traffic stop and they were randomly asking people? We literally, we don't know and we're trying to find out everything that we can as fast as we can.
And Maine Democrat Shelly Pingree spoke to ABC News. The incident sparked protests near the scene and outside Maine Senator Susan Collins' office. Maine's Attorney General says he's begun an investigation and he's calling for any protests to remain peaceful. Now we get to earnings and shares of IBM. They are dropping down more than 18%. It reported preliminary quarterly sales results that missed analyst estimates with its chief executive saying customers were holding back on spending. JPMorgan Chase reported its highest quarterly profit ever as stock traders blew past analyst estimates and a long-held Visa stake paid off to the tune of $4.6 billion. The second quarter equities haul climbed 86% from a year earlier to more than $6 billion, and that beat even the highest estimate among analysts surveyed by Bloomberg.
