News when you want it. With Bloomberg News Now, I'm Doug Krisner. The U.S. has reportedly struck multiple bridges in Iran. The Wall Street Journal cites a U.S. official saying the aim was to cut off supply routes to a port city and a naval base in the Strait of Hormuz used by Iran to attack ships and project power. SpaceX scrubbed a test flight of its massive Starship rocket on Thursday, and ONX CEO Elon Musk said some of the engines did not start triggering an automatic launch abort. Musk also said the next launch will take place hopefully in a few days. This test flight, by the way, would have been the first since the SpaceX IPO. Here is Bloomberg Tech host Ed Ludlow.
All of the future business lines were predicated, are predicated on the success of Starship. Starship being the only system capable of carrying the metric tonnage to orbit of serious orbital data centers payload.
SpaceX has already spent more than $15 billion developing Starship. After the bell, Netflix forecast a second consecutive quarter of slowing sales growth. Now the guidance is feeding anxiety about the future of the streaming giant. Netflix is projecting revenue of $12.9 billion in the current quarter and earnings of 82 cents a share, both a little shy of analyst expectations. We got reaction from Bloomberg analyst Geeta Raghunathan.
We were kind of looking for some kind of guidance raise, either the revenue numbers or the operating margin. They really didn't do either of that. And then, of course, the all-important number was the third quarter guidance, which, as you pointed out, came in way below consensus. So 11.7% is what they're guiding to. Consensus was expecting just a touch above 13%. So again, not a lot to get excited about and really kind of feeds into that whole bearish argument about All of the things that you highlighted, you know, especially plateauing engagement.
Now, Netflix also said it's considering a free tier with ads, but it does not have immediate plans to do so. Here is Bloomberg tech host Ed Ludlow.

So those are different things to Netflix's mind and how they're using AI in the ad business as is spelled out in the letter, campaign planning, creative production, campaign management, optimization, reporting of those metrics.
Shares in Netflix are down about 8% in late US trading. An estimated 64 million Americans are suffering through high temperatures and breathing air polluted by wildfire smoke from Canada. The affected areas in the Midwest stretch from Minneapolis to Chicago, and at the same time, cities along the eastern seaboard have been affected, including Philadelphia, Washington, D.C., and New York City. Thirteen million people in those areas have been hit with both heat advisories and air quality alerts. U.S. regulators will tie lettuce from Taco Bell to a parasite outbreak that sickened thousands in Michigan and nearby states. We are told the FDA will immediately issue a public statement recommending consumers avoid shredded lettuce at Taco Bell locations in Michigan, Ohio, West Virginia, Kentucky, and Indiana.
