Minneapolis is on edge after the fatal shooting of a woman by an ICE officer taking part in the Trump administration's latest immigration crackdown. ICE out now! Protestants continue the Minneapolis public school system canceling classes for the rest of this week. State and local officials demanding ICE leave Minnesota entirely. Homeland Security Secretary Kristi Noem says ICE will not be leaving. Federal officials called the killing an act of self-defense. Minneapolis Mayor Jacob Fry dismissed that characterization as, quote, garbage. The shooting fueled a national debate over President Trump's efforts to send heavily armed federal agents into U.S.

cities in his push for mass deportations. And the head of Minnesota's State Investigations Agency now says the U.S. Attorney's Office has prevented it from taking part in that investigation. Superintendent Drew Evans said in a statement that after the agency consulted with the Hennepin County Attorney's Office, the U.S. Attorney's Office and the FBI, they decided to conduct a joint investigation. But he says now the attorney's office has changed course and the FBI will solely investigate. The Senate has advanced a resolution. This would limit President Trump's ability to conduct further attacks against Venezuela. This morning's vote was a disapproval of the president's expanding ambitions, but it has virtually no chance of becoming law because even if it does pass the House, Trump still has to sign it.

Meanwhile, Energy Secretary Chris Wright said U.S. oil companies are examining what role they can play in helping revitalize Venezuela's energy industry. Chevron is expected to ramp up its operations, and other oil companies are looking for guarantees of physical and financial security. A broader meeting between President Trump and oil executives is scheduled to take place tomorrow at the White House. At the same time, French President Emmanuel Macron warns that the U.S. is gradually turning away from its allies and breaking free from international rules, offering some of his strongest criticism yet of Washington's policies under President Trump. Macron did stop short of calling for a break with Washington.

The House GOP is set to vote on health care, government spending and overriding vetoes, which would test President Trump's grip on the party. Several dozen moderates are expected to vote for a Democratic bill to extend expired Obamacare tax credits as a way to distance themselves from the president. The House will also vote on a bipartisan spending deal and attempt to override two vetoes issued by Trump, including one on a water pipeline project in Colorado and another on expanding the Miccosukee Reserved Area in Everglades National Park. Paramount Skydance reaffirmed its offer to buy Warner Bros. Discovery for $30 a share in cash, saying its offer is the best path for shareholders. Warner Bros.
