News when you want it with Bloomberg News Now, I'm Doug Krisner. Netflix has declined to raise its takeover offer for Warner Brothers Discovery. Now, Netflix did have the option to raise its bid after Warner's board said a revised offer from Paramount Skydance was superior to the deal Warner agreed to earlier with Netflix. Right now, in late trading, shares in Netflix are up by more than 10%. Shares in Paramount Skydance higher by more than 4.5%, although shares in Warner Brothers Discovery down 2%. Anthropic says it cannot in good conscience accede to the Pentagon's demands to allow wider use of the company's AI technology. Anthropic CEO Dario Amadei says there has been virtually no progress on negotiations to prevent the Claude AI tool from being used for mass surveillance of Americans or in fully autonomous weapons.
Former Secretary of State Hillary Clinton said today she had no knowledge of Jeffrey Epstein's crimes and she doesn't recall ever meeting him. Clinton testified during the first of two days of closed-door depositions to a House committee. Former President Bill Clinton is scheduled to appear tomorrow. Here is House Oversight Committee Chairman James Comer speaking before Hillary Clinton's deposition.
This isn't just about Democrats. This is about anyone that has any knowledge of Epstein, the investigation. I think we all agree the government failed. The government failed the victims.
Now, Hillary Clinton's testimony was paused after GOP Representative Lauren Boebert took a picture of Clinton and leaked it to a conservative influencer who posted it online. Now, that is a violation of House rules. Representative Robert Garcia is the top-ranking Democrat on the committee.
That leaked photo was sent out by a member. And the fact it was not just one photo, it was one photo and then a second post that also included a photo as well. And so that was completely against the rules. I think we're grateful that the secretary continued the deposition, but not acceptable.
Garcia went on to say any repercussions from the leak should be handed down by House Republicans and Chairman Comer. The U.S. and Iran wrapped up another round of indirect talks over Tehran's nuclear program. However, the session ended without a deal. Even so, Oman said there had been significant progress. According to Oman's foreign minister, negotiations will resume at a technical level next week in Vienna.
What recent decision did Netflix make regarding Warner Brothers Discovery?
In the interim, there is the risk of conflict as the U.S. has a massive fleet of aircraft and warships in the region. Oil fluctuated today and ended the New York session lower. WTI was down about three-tenths of one percent, settling just above $65. After the bell, Dell Technologies issued an outlook for annual sales above estimates. It's a sign of continued strong demand for those machines central to building AI data centers. We got reaction from Mehdi Hussaini at Susquehanna International Group.
The earning guide for fiscal year 26 is definitely better than expected. We were all expecting gross margin pressure. Now, they are raising their revenue guide for the fiscal year by 12%. And the EPS guide is up by 12%, taking the midpoint. So the higher revenue run rate is definitely helping with EPS. But all in all, I am surprised to the upside given the gross margin contraction is not as feared into the print.
That is Mehdi Hussaini from Susquehanna International Group. Shares in Dell up about 10% in late U.S. trading. The fintech firm Block is cutting 4,000 employees. These cuts will reduce the company's workforce by nearly half. Block was founded by Jack Dorsey, and the company has been placing bets on AI-changing labor productivity. Here is Bloomberg's Emily Mason.
