This is NATO allies unveiled $12 billion in key defense industry deals to buy next generation drones, surveillance planes, and military aircraft in an attempt to convince President Trump that Europe is heeding his spending demands. We get more with Bloomberg Chief Europe Correspondent Oliver Crook in Ankara.
you got that sort of great victory from the President of the United States, one of his great, I would say, geopolitical successes since he took office, which was getting all of NATO to commit, with a couple exceptions, to 5% spending of their GDP on defense. And now, you know, a year on from that, the President is going to want to see some more concrete plans. And that is exactly what Secretary General Mark Rutte has been doing over the last couple of weeks. He's been really sort of advertising it for an opportunity for the Europeans to advertise some of the progress that they have made.

It's possible that Iran didn't know the nationality or the precise identity of these ships, that it may not have known they were Qatari ships. But either way, it really speaks to how things are still very tense over Homs.
