How did President Trump justify a potential war with Iran at the UN?
President Donald Trump defended his decision to go to war with Iran in a major speech today to the United Nations General Assembly. For
fifty-one years, the fanatical Iranian regime has ruled by bloodshed and mass murder. Spreading death and carnage and chaos across the entire Middle East and beyond. They were the bully of the Middle East, but they are the bully no more.
President says he has urged Iran to negotiate several times. He called on other nations to join the US in economic isolation of Tehran. The president also renewed threats
against Cuba. The communist regime is under great pressure. The biggest pressure they've ever been under. It's an absolutely failed
State members of the Cuban UN delegation walked out as the president made those remarks. Bloomberg Washington correspondent Tyler Kendall is covering the UN in New York.
President Trump really used this speech to defend his foreign policy objectives, saying that he has tackled, quote, intractable challenges. Early on, as he mentioned, he highlighted Iran, threatening that we can either see escalation or diplomacy in terms of what comes next. He threatened that he has a decision to soon make.
And foreign policy really dovetailing there as he claims that Iran is waiting until after the midterm elections to strike a deal.

Following the President's speech, markets look like this. The SP 500 is down about a tenth of 1%. The Dowd Jones industrial average is six-tenths percent lower.
What was the immediate impact of the UN speech on U.S. stock indexes?
The Nasdaq composite is higher by about a quarter of one percent. Tenure Treasury yield up nearly two basis points, close to four point nine seven percent. Crude oil is fluctuating, West Texas Intermediates up about a tenth percent, Brent is down two-tenths of one percent. Bloomberg Zabir Abu Omar reports Saudi Arabia is making progress.
Saudi Arabia is selling Asian refineries. That output from Yenba, of course, that site that was affected about 12 days or so ago is coming back to production now. This is not full capacity. Saudi Arabia did say that the east-west pipeline that had been damaged as a result of Iraqi militia attacking it will come back to full capacity within six weeks' time. But half capacity is set to come back within days.
Bloomberg Zabir Abu Omar reporting, and a Japanese outlet is saying that Iran has discussed reopening the Strait of Hormuz within seven days if the U.S.
