Chapter 1: What is the main topic discussed in this episode?
Hello, I'm Stephen Carroll. I'm in Brussels, where many of Europe's biggest decisions get made.
And I'm Caroline Hepke in London. We're the hosts of the Bloomberg Daybreak Europe podcast.
We're up early every weekday, keeping an eye on what's happening across Europe and around the world.
We do it early so the news is fresh, not recycled, and so you know what actually matters as the day gets going.
From Brussels, I'm following the politics, policy and the people shaping the European Union right now.
And from London, I'm looking at what all that means for markets, money and the wider economy.
We've got reporters across Europe and around the globe feeding in as stories break.
So whether it's geopolitics, energy, tech or markets, you're hearing it while it happens.
It's smart, calm and to the point.

We also got March job numbers from private payroll provider ADP. They came in better than expected at 62,000 jobs added. Economists were looking for 40k. The government's jobs report comes out on Friday. Right now, S&P futures are up six-tenths of 1%. Dow futures are half percent higher. NASDAQ futures on the rise by eight-tenths of 1%. Brent crude is down 2% now, just shy of $102 per barrel.
And the 10-year Treasury yield is little changed at 4.31%. Nike is not taking part in the stock rally. Those shares are down 11% pre-market. The sneaker giant sees its revenues down in the low single digits for the rest of this year. Some of that due to the war with high inventories in Europe and the Middle East. Hasbro has been hacked.
The toy maker says it spotted unauthorized access to its network from last Saturday. It's now working to identify files that may have been impacted. Hasbro shares are down almost 2%. And House Speaker Mike Johnson's invited King Charles III to address a joint session of Congress on April 28th. The Buckingham Palace confirmed the state visit on the 27th to the 30th.
The White House banquet scheduled the evening of the 28th. That's news when you want it with Bloomberg News Now. I'm Nathan Hager and this is Bloomberg.
Hello, I'm Michelle Hussain, and for more than 20 years, I was at the BBC. But all the time I was delivering the headlines, I wanted to go further than the news of the day, to spend more time with the people shaping our world. And that's what I'm doing here on this podcast. Speaking to people from Nigel Farage to tech journalist Cara Swisher. And the tech industry is running wild.
You know, they've gotten what they wanted and they've seen a huge run up in their stock prices. This will be a place where every weekend you can count on one essential conversation to help make sense of the world. So please join me, listen and subscribe to the Michelle Hussain Show from Bloomberg Weekend, wherever you get your podcasts.
