News when you want it. With Bloomberg News Now, I'm Amy Morris. We're learning now that talks with Iran could be collapsing. Axios is reporting the U.S. will not agree to Iran's demands that talks be moved to Oman and focus only on nuclear issues. Secretary of State Marco Rubio says it just won't work.
In order for talks to actually lead to something meaningful. They will have to include certain things, and that includes the range of their ballistic missiles. That includes their sponsorship of terrorist organizations across the region. That includes a nuclear program, and that includes the treatment of their own people.
Now, Heather Conley is a non-resident senior fellow at the American Enterprise Institute. She tells Bloomberg that this is part of the dance that comes with gunboat diplomacy.
We've got, you know, a carrier strike group. We are building up significant forces in the Middle East, and we are compelling individuals. In many ways, Iran, to the negotiating table, they're trying to wrestle back a little of the initiative.

China says it has no intention of stepping away from its long-term plans of reunification with Taiwan. Trump is scheduled to visit Beijing in April. And oil surged on those reports that talks with Iran have hit a snag. They're now about 3% higher. That's on top of a tech route as stocks extend losses.

And the fact that Google is reporting tonight is that that's going to be an important bellwether because you've seen some mixed results from companies and even companies with good numbers. If you're not giving fantastic guidance going forward or people looking for very strong numbers going forward, there's a lot of easy disappointments that seem to be happening here.
And we check the markets for you all day long here at Bloomberg. The S&P 500 down 0.2%. NASDAQ down 1.1%. The Dow is up 0.6%. The 10-year Treasury yield at 4.27%. The 2-year yield at 3.55%. Bitcoin now down more than 3%, hovering around 1%. $73,700. The Supreme Court has cleared California to use its new congressional map that favors Democrats during this year's midterm election. The justices denied a request from the California Republican Party and the Department of Justice to prevent the state from using this new voter-approved map on the grounds that it was racially gerrymandered and illegal. California leaders maintain the new map was drawn purely to counteract the Republican redistricting in Texas.
The Department of Homeland Security will immediately reduce its enforcement presence in Minneapolis by 700 agents. Trump administration border czar Tom Holman says they'll refocus their efforts on more targeted immigration operations at local jails.
More officers taking custody of criminal aliens directly from the jails. means less officers on the street doing criminal operations. This is smart law enforcement, not less law enforcement.
About 2,000 federal immigration agents will remain in Minnesota. Treasury Secretary Scott Besant today told lawmakers that stable coins could be important to government financing.
